Beauty Bandit: Demeter Fragrance

 

Thank You CBB (Canadian Beauty Bloggers) and Demeter for sending me such great scents to play and create with! I received this parcel on the last day of the year and was thrilled that it’s my first sample received from a PR company for 2016. This is the going to be the longest post I’ve written for January (grab a cup of hot cocoa and chips).

OK, let’s dive right in.

The first box of Duo custom fragrance kit I got is Clean Skin and Sunshine. It sounded fresh and refreshing, don’t you think?

I think it’s safe to say that perfume and cologne have been used for centuries primarily to enhance attractiveness. We wear bottled scents to seem more appealing. And many people choose a fragrance based on not only their own enjoyment of it, but how they hope it shapes others’ perception of them.You want to smell FREAKING GOOD! NO!!!

Never heard of this brand? No problem. I’ve done some research and here’s what I found. “Demeter Fragrance is a perfume house in Pennsylvania which produces fragrances with aromas and scents of nature such as soil, flowers, fruits, cakes, drinks, and other interesting smells. So far they have produced over 200 fragrances with thematic names”.

Retail for $35.00 a bottle of Foolproof Blending Duo at Demeter Fragrance Library online. Available in over 200 scents, and there are made for everyone in this planet depending on your inner heart desires.

In this DUO set:

• Two 1 oz sprays – Clean Skin and Sunshine
• Refillable spray bottle, so you can blend in more precise proportions than just blending directly on the skin
• 4 Droppers
• 1 Funnel

My nose’s own interpretation of Sunshine and Clear Skin:

Sunshine smells happiness, and there’s even a slightly cottony note that I’m sure is purposeful and could arguably be construed as clean laundry. It’s pretty damn fresh, but not over killed. Focus for men and women, was launched in 2013, has good smell. It smells just like the cotton bed sheet or laundry you just brought in to dry, ahhhh,  I could feel the warmth of the sun. It was subtle, in fact, no one noticed I was wearing a fragrance until I shoved my wrist in honey bear face, which is a really cool thing to do to get his attention,lol!

The amazing thing about the fragrances is that they always hit the scent on the nose (pardon the pun), and each scent is an accurate replica of the original smell. When I got a first whiff of one of the scent, Clear Skin, it reminded me what skin smells like straight out of a shower. It does smell like baby oil upon first spray but then quickly becoming citrus-y and musky. I really like it.  Another thing to take note is the cologne is focus mainly for women and was launched in 2012.

I prefer to wear them as it is, decided not to be my own chemist! But if you love chemistry in school you are going to enjoy playing with an array of scents and customize it to your liking.

Hawaii Vanilla, Angel Food and Gingerbread. WAIT a minute! Did I make a wrong turn somewhere? Is this a food recipe 101? Nope! These are just a few of the unique scents in the Demeter Fragrance Library, a fragrance company that creates unusual scents from everyday life.

Angel Food, Hawaiian Vanilla and Gingerbread

Honestly, I don’t know anyone who had tried Angel Food in reality to know how it smells like. I’m curious to know. The scent is sweet but with a hint of alcohol. It has a short lifespan of lingering smell but it so flattering that you want to spray a few times more.

First Up:

Hawaiian Vanilla fragrance – is an oriental vanilla fragrance for women. It has a sweet scents of vanilla bean combined with citrus. I can feel the freshness when wearing it. I really like and enjoys it. One of my favorite of the bunch.

Angel Food – it reminds me of coconut,  vanilla pudding but with a strong pan of alcohol on first whiff. The last ingredient just throw me off board but nevertheless the coconut scents calm down the storm. In my opinion, it has the strongest scents among the three I have in Trio.

Gingerbread – Oh! this is incredibly awesome. Gingerbread cookies is all I think of the whole day. It brings me back to past Christmas, the smell of baked gingerbread cookies. It smells so so good!

I was surprised to find a USB key and key chain from Demeter in this cute little goodies bag. Can’t wait to use them.
