Which is best? Elf Blending Sponge [Review]

Hey guys! Today, I’ll be reviewing this product which I purchased at Walmart. I did a Walmart beauty haul previously. I’ll have a link here if you care to check it out. I got request to do this review and so let’s jump right in.

This is a specific post to makeup blending sponge. I finally got my hands on this little cute sponge by ELF Cosmetics

Here’s what Elf claim on their website “Flawlessly applies makeup for professionally even and smooth-looking skin. Great for creating a full coverage base, contouring or layering color. This durable sponge is washable and reusable, and perfect for use with all formulations including creams, liquids, and powder foundations, concealers or blush.”

Let’s get into the review:

Before soaking in water

This is how it looks like. It’s definitely has an odd shape compared to other brands. I don’t particularly love or hate this shape. In contrast to the teardrop shape of the beauty blender, the e.l.f. sponge has a pinched middle to grip which some people might like.

After soaking in the water and squeezing the water out

I’ve to squeeze harder to immerse the e.l.f. sponge in water or squeeze water out.

The maximum I can squeeze out of this blending sponge.

After soaking it turns out to be so much bigger in size. You see it can’t fit into the packaging anymore. It grew! I notice that it’s a little dense and feels much harder than the beauty blender when it’s dry, if that make sense.

So, I’ll be showing you the foundation and concealer application with my favorite! I like that it’s much easier to grip with this blender than the other that I’ve tried. It doesn’t bounce as much which I don’t particularly hate as long as it applies well.

I’m trying out my Milani Conceal + Perfect Foundation again today. I’ve been reaching for it ever since I got it. I’m excited to be trying out this ELF Blending Sponge for this review. Yayyy!!!

I can’t stand when sponges soak up a ton of product and shape is secondary for me. What I’m saying is that I really like this blending sponge. I’m quite impressed that it blends so well.

I feel that it blended out great as it should. I really feel that it really works well putting on my foundation. You can tell, it works very good.

Overall, it’s really a good price tag for beginners but it’s not my favorite favorite. You know what I mean. Well, there’s a lot of other makeup blenders out there which are much better but for this price tag, I say give it a try if you’re on a budget spend.

So, I hope you’d enjoyed this post and subscribe to my blog if you haven’t already. I post three times a week.

Thank you so much for visiting. I hope to see you guys on the next one. Bye for now!

Walmart Beauty Haul

Hey guys! What’s up you guys! Yes, I’ve started beauty shopping again after a while of winter hibernation. So, my first stop is at Walmart. I picked up a few interesting beauty products that I’m very excited to show you guys.

I don’t want this blog to be too long so let’s get started.

Wet n Wild Au Naturel Eyeshadow Palette

When I first saw it at Emily Noel‘s youtube channel, I’ve been eyeing this since then. As this is Walmart’s exclusive line, I’m all over the moon when I saw it at Walmart. I grabbed these two lovely shades in Nude Awakening and Bare Necessities. Both have amazing color selections with one palette more matte and pinkish than the other.

Elf Blending Sponge

If you’ve been following my blog you know that I’m a sucker for anything cute, so this is something that caught my eyes on the ELF‘s counter. I love a good blending sponge and I’m pretty excited to try out how this one fairs.

Maybelline Dream Cushion Liquid Foundation

I picked up this Maybelline Cushion foundation in the shade 20. I’m light to medium so, I’ll be trying out to do a color match and test on the formula. I’ve shared a photo of this cushion foundation on my Instagram when it first landed at my local drugstore. I wasn’t too sure if I need another cushion foundation since I still have and love my old favorite, the Physician formula ones. But last week, I decided to pick it up anyways since I feel like spendy and also to do a product review for you guys.

So, ya here it is.

As much as I love my cushion foundation by Physician Formula I thought it would be good to give this product a try. I’ve tried many of Maybelline‘s foundation before and I will have to say I liked them all and so I’ve high expectation on this one. Hope it won’t disappoint.

Milani Conceal + Perfect 2-In-1 Foundation + Concealer

The next product I got is also a foundation. Something is definitely wrong with me. It could be the weather, I don’t know. But as if one foundation is not enough, I picked another and this time it’s by Milani. This one I’ve justification since I’ve been wanting it the moment I saw it floating around the internet. So, when I saw  it at my Walmart, I’m like just take my money. I’m sold!

I got the shade in Medium Beige and I’m very excited to test out the color match and the performance of this foundation + concealer. You guys know that I’m not a very big fan of high coverage foundation because I prefer a natural look with BB Cream but I heard so many people raved about it and so I got to try it.

Milani Powder Blush

And I also picked up something that I’ve been longing to try from Milani since it was first launched. My Walmart doesn’t carry a huge collection of Milani’s makeup products and when I saw this available last week. I grabbed not only one but two of these cute blushes. And yes, it’s their Tea Rose Powder Blush and I also have the shade in Romantic Rose since they’re both so insanely pretty.

Purederm Deep Cleansing Peel-Off Mask (Cucumber)

When I saw this peeling mask, I told myself that I need it.I like the feeling of peeling dry glue when I was a kid and this brings me back to childhood time. There are 5 masks for $7.97 at Walmart. You can also find it on Amazon and Ebay. This product is made in Korea and it’s cruelty free.

Sally Hansen Color Therapy in Sheer Nirvana

Honestly, this is the most expensive nail polish I ever own from a drugstore brand. I saw Amelia Liana talking about the Gel Miracle polish in their Rustic Charm collection. But I decided to pick this Color Therapy line because I just adore this shade so much. I did a color swatch and #NOTD (on my instagram) if you care to check them out. The shade is so girly and pretty. Love, love it! Sheer Nirvana is such a summery color and I really don’t care what season to wear it. I can see myself wearing this over and over!

L’Oreal Doutzen Collection Exclusive in Douzten’s Nude

The last time I checked on the weather, I heard spring will come early this year. I’ve been seeing a lot of new spring color launched on the nails department that I makes me to check them out. Among other shades, this one calls out to me the most. I tried it at the counter and this is definitely my go to spring color nails. I really like this color. It’s a nice mauvy-nude that will be perfect for the season and also for office wear. If you want to see the color swatch, don’t forget to follow me on my instagram for updates.

L’Oreal Evercreame Sulfate-Free Intense Nourishing Shampoo

Last but not least, I’ve a hair product from L’oreal Hair Expertise and it’s their Evercreame Sulfate-Free Intense Nourishing Shampoo.

This shampoo smells amazing and the price is not too bad for a 8.5 fl oz products. I can smell the lovely fresh scents of camelina flower and it’s 100% vegan. It says here that it’s for dry to very dry hair. Well,  I don’t have a very dry hair now but I do have a thick hair. So, I’ll try this and will keep you guys updated if I like it.

So, that’s about it on my Walmart beauty haul this round and I’ll keep you posted on my new series of “Which one won?”. Don’t forget to stay tuned!

Let me know which product you like me do a review on first in the comment. I like to hear what you say.

Thank you so much for visiting. I hope to see you again on the next one. Bye for now!

Paint It Pink – Sephora Favorites

Hey there! Thanks for stopping by the blog today! Here’s a nice deal that just hit my desk!

While I was at my social community group not too long ago, I came upon reading on my news feed that there was a new Sephora Favorite Paint In Pink available online. Honestly, I was torn on this set at the beginning, on one hand it’s a great deal, on the other I told myself I really don’t need anymore stuff right now… BUT I was sold when I saw all these amazing products I wanted to try. You can get the new Paint It Pink from Sephora for only CAD$48.00 or US$40.00 online.

I received this box a week ago and have the opportunity to try some of the products from this set. I’m excited to share some of my opinion on the performance of the products that I’ve tried.

You can get this Paint In Pink Set from Sephora for C$48.00 (Valued US$122) with 8 full size & deluxe samples. I think this is a winner in my book by far and was glad I got it.

So, let’s start with the Beautyblender.

Beautyblender is on a roll with all the new releases for Spring 2016! I believed the new one is in grey color but well never mind if I have here in this kit a nice cute fuchsia one in standard size. I’m happy with my beautyblender. I used to use my fingers or sometimes foundation brush for foundation but with beautyblender, let just I’m obsessed now!

What’s a beautyblender you asked? I said you can use it with cream, liquid, and even powder blushes for a flawless blush application with the right amount of products you like.

Calling all Tartelettes! and Blush fan! Introducing Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Blissful (deluxe sample), (full size US$28.00).

The Tarte blush is a warm pink matte. It’s super long wearing, easy to blend and nicely pigmented. I have light-medium skin tone and this color shows up great without packing it on. At the end of the day my blush is still there. I really recommend these blushes if you want something to last. It’s such a pretty and natural color which is great for an everyday look.

On top of that, I absolutely love the color options. Let’s just say a must-have …!

I’ve been eyeing these since they first came out but was hesitant to try because I’ve never have good luck finding a good glitter shadow before. Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Scratch (full size) for C$25.00.

I have this is Scratch which is a gorgeous shade! It’s a shimmery, warm pinky-rose shadow. The texture is smooth, soft and highly pigmented.

In case you’re wondering if this shadow has glitter on. Well, I should point it out that there’s no glitter in this shadow. Just lots of shimmer. Frankly speaking, I do not have any problems with fall out when I wore it yesterday and today. I absolutely fall in love with the shimmer and the color. Don’t you agree!

Laura Mercier Velour Lovers Lip Color in French Kiss (full size) is a warm hot pink shade. With only one swipe you can see the color intensity. It gives a velvety matte finish. On lips it looks gorgeous which I noticed warm but not too warm.

An amazing color for spring and super opaque. Love it! I’ve a bad habit of smelling lipsticks before I tested them on my lips. I’m pleasantly surprised to find that this lipstick has virtually no fragrance at all. So yay for that!

The formula feels very comfortable, not a thick or creamy lipstick  on lips. I’m blown away by how light weight and comfortable this lipstick gives.

Make Up For Ever Artist Plexi Gloss in 202 (deluxe sample). Available in 35 different color spectrum for C$24.00 in full size. It ranges from pearly and non-pearly finishes to sheer and opaque colors.

Did you notice that the brush applicator to be a little strange. No it’s not defected and don’t be intimidated by it, the truth is it’s a brush that surprisingly work. The formula is moisturizing with some stickiness to it. There’s no scents on it which I like.

I want to enjoy this gloss but it’s a no-no for me. I don’t mind a lip cream but I couldn’t stand a tacky, sticky lip gloss. I know it just me but sorry no, it’s a miss for me.

Roller Lash Mascara in Black.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Pressed Rose Gold (deluxe sample) is a cream highlighter thamakes its way onto my beauty radar recently. It’s a  warm peachy-bronze with rose gold shimmer.

I’ve light to medium tone skin and I would say that this product would be great as bronzer or blush than a highlighter. On the contrary, if you’ve deeper skin tone then I’s rather think it would look great as a highlighter to add warmth to the skin.

Just like any Becca products, the formula is smooth to touch with amazing pigmentation. This shade appears to be sparkly  but the end result is more of a glow than glittery. The shimmer is absolutely stunning!

Did I mentioned that I find the packaging chic! It has that urban, chic-feel with hubcap design sporting the Becca logo on it.

I get many compliments when I wear the bronzer/highlighter. Thanks Becca for making my skin glow!

Deborah Lippmann Nail Polish in Baby Love.  It’s a clear transparent polish. I didn’t see the milky shade to translate on my fingernails. It looks transparent but with some shine.

I hope this POST is helpful, and I hope to see you again on the next one!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Why Is Beauty Blender A MUST?

I was very intrigued by the Beauty Blender. I suspect it’s because of the hot pink color egg or tear drop shape which is made for the face. Is it just a sponge you may ask? Wrong! This is the most amazing sponge I’ve ever seen.  I was skeptical at first but now I don’t ever apply foundation without it.

I got this Beauty Blender from the Paint It Pink box I received from Sephora recently.

Here’s why :

  1. It makes your foundation application looks flawless as if you’re not wearing anything. It’s so easy to work for blending.
  2. You can use it for any type of liquid products, for example foundation, concealer, bb cream, bronzer or blush.
  3. It makes hard to reach areas such as under the eyes, around the nose, and corners of the mouth easy to get to with the small pointy end of the sponge.
  4. Beauty blender can help sheer out more of the excess product from looking or face feeling like wearing a mask.
  5. It doesn’t absorb the foundation like an actual sponge does, your foundation will actually go further with this.
  6. It comes in pink, grey, black, purple or white. Well, I must say they’re all cute.

I would love to hear from you in the comments below why is beauty blender a must have in case I missed out some important pointers.

What’s your favorite method to apply your makeup?

Thanks guys for visiting & Happy READING! Bye!
