Title – 10 Reasons Why You Should Not Use Steam

Apparently, we all have busy schedules to meet each day if we are to earn our daily living. Therefore, when we have some time off, we may get into different forms of relaxation.  We may get into laughing clubs or even massaging centers. For some people, a steam bath is the best and closest option.  In health or even sports and gym clubs, the facility is usually availed and also made accessible to everyone.  Several people like using the facility for relaxation purposes.  While you can enjoy using the bath and relaxing, you can also forget your stress and challenges.

Lately, steam baths have gained a lot of popularity. The facility is being widely used among both men and ladies.  The fitness centers, gyms, beauty centers and salons, as well as sports club, have steam baths availed for all.  Enjoying the hotness of the steam on the body feels great and provides a deal of relaxation and enjoyment to many. However, it has some benefits, advantages as well as disadvantages. Unfortunately, the users only care about how well they relax, and some other benefits. Some  of the benefits of steam baths include weight loss and regulation of blood flow under the skin. At the same time, others believe that it is a critical detoxifying agent. Besides, others use it to kill and eliminate harmful pathogens under the skin. It is essential and vital, however, to be keen on the cons of using steam on the skin. The following are some of the cons of using steam on the skin:

  • Absorption of impurities into the Skin

The water being used in the steam baths may be too hot. This, therefore, can cause the absorption of the impurities into the body. Some of the impurities could be dangerous and harming to the body cells. Among the impurities that can penetrate the skin are chlorine and fluorine.

  • Skin dehydration

The steam tends to increase the temperatures in the body. This, therefore, causes loss of water from the skin.  Sweating can occur as one takes a steam bath and thus lose a lot of water. Whereas steam bathing can have advantages such as dealing with the dark spots on the face, it can cause skin dryness. Some people may even forget to moisturize the skin after steam bathing. This habit is critical and skin damaging.

  • Worsening Infections

The steam may be dangerous and can worsen infections on the skin.  If the skin has open sores, acne or scars, the germs in the steam could cause worsening of the condition as well as allowing pathogens into the skin. If one uses public steam baths, the places may be dirty, and the steam could mix with the dirt in the air and cause infections on the skin.

  • Dry skin

The habit of using steam too many times on the skin can cause dryness.  At the same time, it can result in or cause the skin to overproduce oil. These increase the risk of acne breakout.

  • Irritation

Using steam can leave the skin irritated and also itchy.  In addition, the hot steam could find its way into the skin and remain there.  This water can then cause itching and burn-like sensations.

  • Skin Sagging

The habit of steaming the skin regularly may have the effects of skin sagging. To start with, the steam destroys the natural skin lipid layer that is vital for skin protection and warming.  At the same time, it may give the skin suppleness for some time. However, after the activity, it causes skin sagging as the skin relaxes. Some people do face steaming hoping it will work like a cleanser for face. However, it may cause more harm to the skin than benefits.

  • Acne-Breakouts Risk

Experts indicate that acne prone skin may suffer if an individual keeps using steam. The habit could increase the risks for acne and pimple breakouts.  This is because the skin’s top layer may swell after steaming.  The layer after swelling, traps dust, oils, as well as bacteria into the skin pores.  At the same time, these substances can cause and increase the skin inflammation.

  • Clogging the pores

If those harmful substances, including the dust and bacteria get into the pores after steaming, they may remain there for days as some people assume that steaming reduces the dirt in the pores. The pores could get clogged and thus encourage breakouts.

  • Could Cause pain on Skin and Headaches

Users can suffer headaches when using or after using steam baths. Sometimes, the facilities may be improperly installed. In addition, the heat could be too much, and could cause pain afterward.

  • Worsening of Asthma and Heart Condition

Asthma and heart conditions can worsen if an individual is using the steam facility. These conditions usually worsen if there is either a lot of heat or too much cold. It is thus essential that individuals suffering from both conditions and issues avoid using steam.

Well, we are not concluding that steam is entirely dangerous and harmful for the skin.  However, using it with a little moderation is vital. Evidently, it can have undesirable effects and cause issues with the skin.  You can go for a steam bath probably once in a month.  If you prefer DIY therapies for steaming, be keen and avoid steam that is extremely hot.  Keep in mind that frequent sessions using a steam bath are not advisable as they could make the skin dry, dehydrated, acne prone as well as infected.  At the same time, it is harmful to health, especially those people who are suffering from asthma and heart conditions.

Guest Post: 5 Shower Mistakes That Can Ruin Your Skin

There is nothing more relaxing than taking nice shower before going to bed. Let’s face it, when it comes to shower we don’t put much thought into it. We just get in, make sure water is hot and that’s it. Without knowing it, you probably make different mistakes when you’re taking a shower and these mistakes can be harmful for your delicate skin. Keep reading this article to discover what mistakes you probably make on daily basis.

  1. You’re using hot water and washing your face

While hot showers seem like excellent way to relax, particularly in winter, they aren’t that good for your skin. According to Cynthia Bailey MD a dermatologist in Northern Carolina, hot showers remove natural skin’s oils that are necessary for hydration and smoothness. Furthermore, hot water brings blood circulation to your skin which is why you get out of the shower with lobster-like red skin on your chest and limbs. Together with circulation inflammatory building blocks appear and cause irritation and awkward itch.

If water is too steamy, it’s definitely too hot for your skin. It is needles to mention that stripping of natural oils from your skin contributes to dryness. Skin dryness is one of the most frequent causes of dullness. Ideally, you should shower with lukewarm or warm water.

Another mistake you make every day is washing your face while showering. According to Dr. Elizabeth Tanzi, co-director of the Washington Institute of Dermatologic Laser Surgery in Washington DC, told The Gloss that washing your face in the sink is a much better alternative. Why? It’s because skin on your face is sensitive and more prone to damage than rest of your body. Hot water can cause skin dehydration and it opens up the pores, while cold water closes them. Dehydrated skin is more prone to signs of aging and accelerated appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

  1. You don’t clean your razor

Razors collect bacteria from your skin and when you just leave them in a damp shower they breed bacteria and germs at a faster rate. If you don’t clean your razors adequately (or at all) you are risking infections even if you don’t cut yourself. To prevent this from happening, you should rinse your razor with hot water before you use it. Also, if you shave on daily basis you should replace a razor head at least once a week.

  1. You use harsh soaps

You probably can’t imagine taking a shower without nice soap, but antibacterial and harsher agents can do more harm than good to your skin. The squeaky sensation you like while rubbing your skin and cleaning it with soap comes when natural oils are stripped from your skin. Basically, harsh soaps can dry out your skin. Besides premature aging that was already mentioned in association with dryness, your skin also becomes sensitive and more prone to infections and irritations. Furthermore, you don’t even have to soap the entire body. Soaps are formulated to dissolve oil and dirt so water can wash them away. Skin on your arms and legs doesn’t have a lot of natural oils to begin with and cleaning them with soap can dry them out significantly. Ideally, you should soap only the odor-causing parts of your body.

  1. Waiting too long to moisturize

The purpose of moisturizer is largely misunderstood. They don’t provide the moisture; instead they are formulated to retain the moisture in your skin. This is why moisturizers are applied immediately after taking a shower. First, you pat dry your skin with towel (never rub it), then you apply moisturizer evenly. Waiting longer than 3 minutes to apply moisturizer can make your skin lose moisture it got during the shower. Loss of moisture adds to dryness. Furthermore, you shouldn’t forget about your face as well. You should never use body moisturizer onto your face and vice versa. Most people apply moisturizer on their body while face is usually overlooked. In turn, moisture your skin got after you washed it (in the sink after shower) is lost which contributes to dull complexion.

Therefore, apply face cream or moisturizer and body moisturizer immediately after taking a shower and washing your face to trap the moisture in your skin for nourished and hydrated look.

  1. Scrubbing too much

Scrubbing to much removes natural oils as well as the “good” bacteria. In order to stay healthy and smooth, your skin needs natural oils and good bacteria that protect it from infections and various skin conditions like eczema. Furthermore, when you scrub hard besides removing good bacteria and natural oils, you also irritate your skin thus making it more prone to infections, redness, dry skin and rashes. Therefore, it’s time to reconsider your scrubbing strategy and use gentler strokes if you are unwilling to ditch loofah and use your own hands instead.

There are many shower mistakes we constantly make and this article listed five of them. Making these mistakes on daily basis contributes to skin dryness, dullness, and accelerates the aging process. Remember, use warm water, don’t scrub too hard, and opt for gentler cleanser.

How To Apply Cream and Gel Blushes Like A Pro

The last few posts I mentioned and share some of the cream blushes I picked up from different stores. So, today I wanted to do something different to share with you all. Therefore, here are the cream blushes that I’ve tried and love.

cream blushes

First thing first. You need to start with freshly moisturized skin or a liquid base.

Taking minimal amount, apply the product onto cheeks.

Next, using a brush or sponge, buff upwards and out. You can also use your fingers but remember to blend in a patting motion to avoid rubbing off the product. Blend and blend until you do not see any harsh edges. If you require more coverage, go back and add more.

Here are the tips I learned and gladly share in my post – do you know that :-

* Cream and gel blushes work best on those with normal to dry skin. Those with oily skin are better off with powder formulas.

* For a flushed-within look, apply a heavier layer over bare skin then add foundation on top.

* Applied too much? Do not use powder on top (you will risk looking cakey). Instead, tone down the color by dabbing a clean sponge over the area.

You just have to remember these 3 simple tips and you’re set for wearing cream blushes like a Pro. You got to try it!

Which is your favorite cream or gel blush and the brand? Don’t forget to leave your comment down below.

Thanks for taking the time to read.

How To Stop Lipsticks From Bleeding

by source
by source

What does lipsticks bleeding actually means? Well, let “Yoda” speaks? Know him you do, surely. The great Jedi master he is! The little green Jedi master he also is.

Yoda speaks “Much to learn you still have”. Bleeding lipstick you have – dry lips and color migrates around the cracked mouth, surely also are.

Here are the 5 tips to stop lipsticks from bleeding:-

1. Simply apply rich nourishing or lip balm at bedtime. This helps to keep your lips moist and not dryish when you wake up the next morning to wear your lipstick.

2. Use only lipsticks that has butter shea and vitamin E properties.

3. Always line your lip with a natural or soft nude lip liner if you don’t want your lipstick to bleed. The job of the lip liner is sort of barricade the lip color from feathering out.

4. You can also use your foundation or concealer as the base. Just dab it on your lips lightly before applying your lipstick.

5. I know this is going to be hard but try, try to only wear long lasting lipsticks on special occasion only. Long lasting lipsticks tend to dry out lips.

6. Oh gosh! I thought I have 5 ips but here is another tip you might want to do. Don’t wear lip gloss on lipstick. It will make your lipstick melt and migrate around the lips.

7. Another bonus tip is try a smudge proof lip liner to line the lips, take some time to outline and focus on the cupid’s bow.

That’s all and that’s it for today’s tip of the day. Whew… that’s a lot to digest but I do hope that these tips helps when you come across feathering or bleeding lipstick.

Daring Enough To Try This Ombré Lips Look!

Well, read further down and let’s get started. I’ve heard a lot of love for ombré hair and it doesn’t stop there. But ombré is now taking over another part of our bodies.

With so many hypes and raves about this ombré thingy, I couldn’t help myself but been curious to check it out. So, what is ombré exactly? I’ve heard of ombre colors for wedding themes and it simply means a gradation of color hue from the lightest to the darkest which usually begins from the center of the mouth.

Wanna know how to make a sexy and fun looking electro pop ombré lips!

ombre makeup tools

I have here my lip crayon by Flower, lipstick by Clinique, lip liner by NYX and a lip brush from essence for the look below.

To kick start, I moisturise my lips with NYX lip cream. It’s important to make sure that your lips are well moisturised.

step 1 ombre lips

The next step is to use your lip pencil. This lip pencil is your friend since it is not only creating definition but also hold down any matte lipstick or gloss in place.

It is recommended to use only three lip color products and a lip brush. So, start by lining your lips and then continue pulling the lip pencil slightly more towards the center of your lips. Then blend gently the liner with a lip brush. You can see that I leave the center visible and bare.

ombre lips look

Gently apply a contrasting lipstick shade on both corners of your lips. For this tutorial I use the color “Va Va Violet” lipstick by Clinique. Using a lip brush, blend it well on both sides and try not to touch the center of your mouth.

Then again work a lip brush or for this case I use a lip crayon and just apply in the middle with a lighter shade lip color. I’m using “mauve over” by Flower which is very pretty matte shade. This method is to add more dimension and makes lips look fuller.

The trick of this ombre lips is to make lips appear as large as possible without looking overdrawn simply with lip liner. Amazing isn’t it on how my lips appear more plumper and sexier I would say ❤

Well, the only thing about having a sexy yet futuristic ombré look is by practising. I encourage you to give it a try at home and just have fun playing with the lips colors. Good luck!

I have so much fun doing this ombré lip tutorial and thrilled to share this experience with you guys. I love how my lips look, it’s fuller and sexier, don’t you think?

7 Basic Beauty Guidelines You Must Know

Hey guys!

I’m back again with some of the basic tips which I have gathered and experienced over time and taught what better time than now to share it with you guys. I bet many of you might have encounter or aware of these beauty guides, but I’m just going to talk about it here in my post since I find it relevant to us on a daily basis.

1. Expensive doesn’t always means better!

There are good and bad products in all price categories and there are some amazing inexpensive products you should really consider before going for the expensive stuff. Just like the idiom, a coin has two sides.

two side coin

2. Remember to check foundations, concealer and powder colors in natural light

Drugstore or retail store outlets lighting is deceiving, what seems perfect under artificial light can look disastrous in broad daylight.  Ideally, try to pick by bringing the product nearer to the window where there are natural lights. Oh yes! do a color swatch on your jawline closer to the ears than on the hand since the color on the face and hand doesn’t always match.

3. Be extra caution with shiny blush or eyeshadow

Okay, fine some of us love shiny makeup but let’s keep in down for evening or special occasion. It is recommended that a blush with a matte finish or a hint of sheen works best for daytime makeup.

4. Never to test mascara or eyeliner in the store

Many of us are tempted to try on the testers provided at a makeup counter and a note of precaution. Try to avoid using the tester since you never know how many people have double-dipped or how old the testers are. We don’t know how contaminated they may be. I know it’s a pain, but for the health of our eyes and due to hygienic purposes it’s best to purchase these products and test them at home.

5. Sanitize lipstick with alcohol based spray before testing

If you are like me, wanting to test almost all the colors on the testers then one advise is to ask the salesperson to either shave off the top portion of the lipstick with a disposable spatula before testing them. Cannot spray and cannot shave, then wipe off several layers of lipstick with a clean tissue. I usually test them on my hand instead of on my lips and same goes for the lip gloss. I don’t want to get any gems and neither do I want to give my gems to the other person.

6. Saw a cosmetic artist whose makeup you admire? Ask them for application tips!

Especially if their skin tone is similar to yours. It would be much easier for you to pick up great tips and begin to feel more confident about choosing the best colors for you. You’ll be surprised to see how helpful some are.

7. Don’t be afraid to return a makeup product, even if you have used it.

Almost all drugstores and mass market stores like Walmart will provide complete refund on makeup purchases if you have the receipts even if the product has been used. Target store no longer issue refunds once items has been opened or used.

These are some recommended or suggested guidelines only and you are free to choose whichever tip you like. Hope this helps.

Do you have tips that you like to share? I love to hear your comments.

Thank you for reading.
