Do You Need It? Essence Makeup Bronzing & Highlighting Palette

Hi guys! Today’s I’ll be talking about this new palette by Essence Makeup well maybe not new new but it’s definitely new to me. It’s the Glow Must Go On bronzing and highlighting palette and I picked up mine at my local drugstore but it’s also available at Essence’s website if you want to check it out.

essence glow and go

This palette is a collaboration with beauty youtuber and this one bronzing & highlighting palette is with Serena from Beautylab. I like supporting beauty youtuber who works hard and get their name out.

There are four available and the one that drawn me the most is called The Glow Must Go On, a bronzing and highlighting palette!

Really like the outside packaging and design of this palette. It’s made of cardboard material but very sturdy. It’s a nice size for travelling and small enough to fit into any makeup bag.

In this palette, you get a highlighter, two eyeshadows and three beautiful shimmery bronzers. There’s a small brush to help you apply the products but I prefer to use it for touch ups only. To me it seems like a perfect “getaway” palette for holidays. You can also use the glowing highlighter or bronzers on your eyes, to add them some more shine.

This palette is amazing. I was blown away when I swatched these. They feel so creamy and pigmented.  “the glow must go on” palette has three different bronzers in warm.

If you want to know if it impressed me or not, read on!

L-R: Honey Glow Highlighter, Cinnamon and Sandalwood Eyeshadows

The Cinnamon eyeshadow is described as brick orange while Sandalwood is more like medium dark brown shadow. I was drawn to the Sandalwood shade as it’s chocolaty and looks like a rich color.  As for the Cinnamon, it’s more dusty than the darker brown and the pigmentation isn’t the best but can be built up a bit. These two eyeshadows are matte and can be used as bronzer if you like to mix things up a bit. I used the Cinnamon shade as transition color or on the crease and the Sandalwood on the outer corner.

Next is the Honey Glow highlighter which gives a frosty finish that I really like. It’s pigmented so you don’t need loads to achieve the desired look.

Next are the swatches of the trio power Glowing Bronzer. The bronzers are in copper,  bronze and pink shade. The finish of the bronzer is super metallic and looks very well on warmer skin tones. Brunettes with yellow undertone will love this!

The texture is very soft. It’s buildable as well as blendable. The shades are beautiful but the drawback for me is the shimmery formula.

This small brush applicator is useful to apply highlighter or touch ups. I find it’s too big and flat for your eyes and too small to use for your face.

Oh boy, am I glowing!!! The highlighter is my only favorite from the palette.

Overall, I think this is a nice palette if you’re looking for minimum color palette which is easy to work. It’s not a terrible palette if you like glowy bronzers which I’m not really a fan of. The design got my attention and the fact that I’m supporting a youtuber in her collab with Essence. Sadly,  as much as I want to like all of them, it’s a miss for me. I would say don’t waste your money, there are other drugstore palettes out there that offers more for your buck.

Hope this review was helpful to you! If you do decide to try these palettes, let me know how they fared with you!

Epic Drugstore Beauty Haul For Only $2

Hey you guys! Thanks for dropping by my blog.

These are products that are new to me and I snapped them before they’re all gone.

There are two products in this haul and each is more exciting than the next.

Let’s start with the Essence Unforgettable Kiss Duo Blush. Available in two shades, the formula is decently pigmented but still adds a light and luminous look to the skin.

I absolutely adore the packaging and love the color blushes. Essence Unforgettable Kiss with two shades in each blush you can use it whichever way you like. I’ve either been dipping my brush in all two or using each individual shade for a pop of color.

If you’ve fair skin type then the shade 02 in Pink Me would look gorgeous on you. I’ve been loving the shade Nothing But Lovestoned now as it gives a gorgeous flush and has a slight sheen to it which really illuminates my cheeks.

Who is with me on this one, I’m a sucker for anything cute. So, I instantly like the heart shaped packaging with little hearts printed on with essence logo on it.

I wanted to pick both shade so that I can show you here in my blog. Both shades are matte so they have a really natural finish on the skin once blended.

Check out this Pink Me swatches on bare arm. Pretty color, don’t you think?

Next is the other blush in Nothing But Lovestoned color swatch. The finishing is a bit faded and a tad powdery, but it don’t really bothers me. I like that it could be layered to your desired look.

If you like product that’s not over the top or if you’re on a budget that you don’t want to spend more than $5 for a blush then I think this are an awesome choice.

I also picked up some of these gorgeous looking Maybelline Color Tattoo Pure Pigments while I was there. It was on the liquidation rack for $2.00 and so I grabbed three of the shades that shouts out to me. I really love their color range.

Maybelline really step up with many incredible shades for this collection.

When you think that it’s really very hard to work with where they will get into your face and it’d fall down everywhere but it was actually darn easy. The actual pots itself do gets a bit messy  because of the pigments and you do want to pick up a tissue and dabbed your brush in it and brush the excess away.

My favorite color is the Breaking Bronze. Can you tell? It has such gorgeous shade.

Next, I picked up this Wild Gold which is quite pretty. I’m so excited to wear it this summer.

These shades are so pretty and such sophisticated on lids and they’re not overly shimmery or glittery.

Definitely check out my other blog I’ll link below and social media.

Thank you so much for stopping by. I hope I’ll see you guys again on the next one. Bye!

It’s Mountain Calling !

It’s almost winter here in Canada with Christmas just around the corner and that means it’s the perfect time of the year to go out and shop for yourself and your loved ones. I love to go to the malls and or drugstores to look for some new Holiday collection or any special deals. We all love to do that..don’t we ?

And..Pharmaprix is one of my favorite drugstores to get my hands on some cool stuff. I start my Christmas shopping quite early and I still have some I didn’t cross out yet. I was just checking on my usual obsession “Eyeshadow Palettes” when I saw this Mountain Calling Eyeshadow Palette by Essence.

I could not resist myself from buying it because, a) It was a limited edition palette which is only for winter b)It was for only $4.99 and for 6 eyeshadows. Awesome !! Right?

The packaging is what gravitates me in the first place. The ski lodge and the ski mountain design reminds me of the coming ski season. Oh! how adorable the packaging is. It comes in a cardboard material with a magnetic closure with a pop out ski lodge. How cool is that!

Texture wise, I really love it. It feels creamy, pigmented, smooth with amazing color payoff. Six satiny eyeshadow shades in shimmer:

Right to left:  pearl, soft beige, light brown, forest green, winter blue, and charcoal grey. Includes  sponge eyeshadow applicator.

The verdict- Essence Mountain Calling Palette is an affordable palette which is ideal for creating subtle and defined eye looks. The wintery shades will cater almost all the skin-tones viz fair, medium and dark. I’ve other color shadows that works beautifully when mixed together.

The above swatches are on bare skin with just one line swipe, picked up directly with my fingers from the pan. Look how so pretty the pigmentation and texture. I’m falling head over heels for this.

These are non-chalky, decently pigmented, non-irritant, blend-able, silky smooth and last for 4+ hours on primed lids without creasing. Lighter shades need layering to show up but these are workable. You can use this palette on its own as well as with other shimmery colors to create a plethora of eye makeup looks.

This is 100% recommended. For $4.99 I say go for it girl. Totally worth trying it OUT. This one is a winner in my book. Don’t walk, run to your nearest drugstores for this great value palette. What are you waiting for … Mountain Calling!

Have you seen this limited edition palette by Essence? If yes what do you think of it? I would love to hear your comments.

Be sure to visit other BABES IN BLOGLAND . You got to check their blog post for Blogmas Day 13.

Thanks as usual for taking the time to read.

Essence XXXL Nude KISS|Lipgloss|Review

Hey lovelies,

You might noticed that I have been doing a whole lot of reviews on lip products recently. I’ve been crazily looking and trying different lipgloss hopefully to end up finding my holy grail. Anyways,  I picked this Essence XXXL Lipgloss at a drugstore. I love the shade and the packaging looks pretty too. So, I caved in to this gloss 😀

essence lip shine essence lip gloss

This lip gloss comes in a pretty bottle tube with a doe foot applicator. I got 002 in Nude Kiss, which is of mauve color which I truly love. It claims to be an ultra shinny lip gloss which is moisturizing and non-sticky.

essence lip shine

First of all, the claim is true that it’s really, like freaking serious shinny. They’re not joking! It’s moist and not sticky nor gunky which is great. It smells of a tint of buttery cupcakes scents to it. The light scents doesn’t bother me at all personally. I’m quite picky in terms of lip scents and this XXXL is not too overwhelmingly strong. So, if you are scents sensitive then you might want to stop reading here.

color swatch essence

There’re a handful of itsy bitsy sparkles or micro-glitters if you look closely from the transparent bottle. So, when I applied them on my lips, you can see the particles of the micro-glitters on my lips. It’s even more profound up closed. I can’t really decide if I love the sparkles on my lips but I definitely love how cute it makes my lips look :3

beautiful lipshine pouting lips

Shinny particle aside, I love how my lips feel moisturized and how pretty this formula stays on my lips. The shade I chose looks mauve but when applied it completely looks nude or neutral finish just as the label says. It has a sheer finish leaving my lips looking naturally awesome 🙂

kissable lips (2)

Is this a love or hate lip gloss relationship? Well, I would say it’s worth the try to pick this Essence XXXL Lip gloss up in your vanity. For just $2.49 a bottle tube, I will say go for it girlfriends. With twenty-four shades to choose, you simply can’t go wrong choosing your perfect shade.

Well, this Essence lip gloss may not be my holy grail lip gloss but I sure find some beautiful lip gloss that looks lovely on my lips. Yay!!!

Which shade would you choose if you were to pick your favorite color?

Thanks so much for reading.

What’s this about Gel Mascara?

essence gel lash brow brushessence lash and brow gel mscara

Okay, I picked this up last week. I did a blog  earlier on “under $5.00 Beauty Must Haves” last Monday and today I thought of doing a review on this lash and brow gel mascara by Essence. I’ve never had a brow gel for my eyebrows before. It says to put a stop to unruly eyebrows! Wow!!! This I must really try. So, here it goes.

essence gel mascara for browcompare eye lashes

Eye brows comparison. Photo shown: Left side is with gel and Right without the gel mascara.

Uhmm… okay. Don’t see much of a different with the gel at first swipe. I did 2 more swipes and yes, my brow does seems set in place. Brows looks natural after applying the gel. It doesn’t show any shinny residue on the brow (not glue-y). I did mine without any eyebrow color and it works just fine.

gel mascara for lasheyelashes ith gel mascara

I also tried it on my lashes and well my lashes does feels crispy but not any much different. Since it’s a transparent gel so nothing much can been seen as compared to the normal black mascara. I have short eye lashes so it doesn’t perform as great for me but I think those who has long lashes, this mascara gel will work wonders.

Overall, I don’t think I like or dislike it. I think it is a good product, no doubt about it. I don’t regret buying it.  I will try to use it more often and learning to get use to this gel. For the price, I can’t find anything wrong with it. But for sure it is something that helps to put messy brows in shape. For that I think it does its job well.

Have you try any gel mascara lately? Please leave comment below.

Thanks for taking the time to read.

Top 5 Tuesday Favorite ~ Eyeliners

Top 5 faves eyeliners

Hey beauties, I’m back again with my Top 5 Tuesday Favorite. This week, I’m going to do my 5 favorite Eyeliners. They are from drugstores, Wal-mart and Target. I picked these in pencil, gel, liquid and cream formula.

Let’s begin. I just picked them randomly and did a swatch and so they are all my faves and I used them all the time except the Essence superfine liner and Annabelle which I just got them recently. Most of the liners have been with me for awhile whereas some are more recent.

annabelle liner

1. Annabelle Retractable eyeliner in Jet Black gives great precision line. It has a sharperner at the end of the pencil. Love the rich, intense color and it’s long lasting. It claims to have 12 hours wear and waterproof. I got this for $9.99 at Target. Available in 6 different shades.

prestige liner waterproof

2. Prestige Waterproof eyeliner in 07 on Granite. It’s dark greyish just the color that I like. I need to have different color eyeliner for different eye looks. So, this one works like a charm. It has creamy texture and glides beautifully. There’s some shine in this liner though. Long lasting since it’s 100% waterproof. Great for those with oily eye lids. It came with 8 selection of color shades to choose from. I remembered paying $2.99 when it was on special at a local drugstore.

bonnebell liner

3. Up next is my Bonnebell eye definer in Black Denim. This is my go-to liner everyday wear. I love how velvety it was on application and it’s opaque. It can be sharperned and it doesn’t drag or tug. It has 5 amazing colors to pick. I had this one for a long time and I can’t remember where I got it from. Sorry! But they have a website which I’ll link it below.

essence superfine liner

4. My new Essence Superfine eyeliner pen 01 in Deep Black. I like the ultra long felt tip, which delivers a pretty nice black line. I like using it to do a dramatic look like cat eyes or Arabian makeup look. By drawing a few lines on the lids, the color will not fade as fast. I would not recommend this for those who has especially oily lids. It not waterproof so it comes off quite fast. But for the price of $2.99, I think it’s still a good steal.

maybelline gel liner

5. Oh yes! My last but not least favorite. Maybelline Eyestudio gel liner in Charcoal is an absolute product to have for eye makeup. It quite pigmented and I like the brush to define thin lines or dramatic looks. I used it when I’m doing winged eyeliner look. It’s easy to control and will not smudge. There were 4 different lasting color choice to pick.

Maybelline Dream Bouncy blush is also one of my favorite blush of all time. I had this for a while already and finally I got the chance to show case it as my Top 5. Yes it has those bouncy effect which I find it quite cool. This is a cream blusher that is so lightweight to powder form. It has a beautiful colour payoff and so a little goes a long way.

This little gem – Essence Kalinka blush. Believe it or not I got this for only $2.00 on liquidation sale. I simply love the cute and adorable Russian doll theme packaging that drew me to grab it. But I did find it quite pigmented and soft. It blends in quite well and it has a matte finish. Not too bad for a $2 bucks blusher.

Revlon Blush in 010 Classy Coral is a rich, quite pigmented and so wonderful soft when applying. The texture is soft and it blends pretty nicely. One thing to note is that the color of this Classy Coral which I picked has a very soft and light tone to it. So, lots of blending required for a fresh looking cheek. Good news is that the color is buildable so it works for me. There are 9 color shades available!

NYX blush is one of my everyday blusher after I started using it. It’s very pigmented, creamy texture feel eventhough it is a powder blush. Has a shimmery effect too.  It creates a really natural glow when I applied it on my apple cheek.  It glides so smoothly and I absolutely love this blusher. By the way, I got mine in copper for an autumn look. Available in 24 gorgeous and radiant colors!

Last but not least is my E.L.F. blusher. It has a silky finish which blends pretty well on my skin. The formula is silky to touch. It has a tiny, subtle amount of shimmer to it which gives off a natural looking glow. Average pigments and good value for money. I got mine at Target.

What is your favorite blusher from the drugstore?

Thanks for reading guys!
