The Best Cheap Makeup aka Drugstore Dupe

Confession: Alright! I’m a makeup hoarder. Okay, maybe that wasn’t exactly groundbreaking news but you see, I love makeup. I do not discriminate towards any certain price point. If it’s good stuff, I will sing its praises. In fact, I am a sucker for a good dupe, and will always choose it if it performs just as good as its high end counterpart.

As a self-proclaimed beauty addict, I’m not ashamed of my love for/need to try every new product out there, but obviously this addiction isn’t very budget-friendly.

Today, I’ve something special to share with you all. I’ve here what I think is the best cheap makeup. They’re everything you can find at your drugstore. From foundation, mascara, to eyeshadows and more! Keep your eyes peeled for what I’m about to reveal here. Who doesn’t love a good splurge…. but a good steal is the real thrill!

Best of all? This bad boy is under $10! Hurray!

I have this Color Tattoo Metal 24 Hrs Eyeshadow in Barely Branded for $7.67 at my local drugstore but you can find it at Walmart, mass merchandise retailers or drugstores.
The shade is gorgeous. It is probably my most favorite cream shadow I acquired from Maybelline Color Tattoo Metal line. You know me: nude crazed lol!
Speaking of pigmentation, this Barely Branded has good pigmentation and creamy. Layering is easy to achieve and color last all day with no creasing and minimal fading.
Photo: Mac Cosmetics

You can wear it alone as an eyeshadow or like me I used it as an alternative dupe for Mac Painterly. I haven’t a clue how Mac Paint Pot formula is like but I heard this Color Tattoo Barely Branded is a close dupe for the shade Painterly. If you have tried both, I would love to hear your comments below.

I’m sharing my thoughts on my experience with Maybelline Color Tattoo and not comparing the difference of the two for dupes. This is just my personal liking for Color Tattoo Barely Branded shadow which I think was a great find for me to use as eye base until I’m ready to invest on the paint pot by Mac.
Here is the swatch out shadow directly from the pot. You can see just how pretty the pigmentation is. Amazing, right?
Since this is a dupe for Mac Painterly, you can easily save more than $15.00 easily.
Overall, I am blown away by the gorgeous shade in Barely  Branded and I’v been reaching for it since I got it. Now that I know I’m in love with this dupe, I’ll be repurchasing this once I ran out. You can find this product at any drugstores.
Off you go to your nearest drugstores to check it out for yourself and be sure to visit Maybelline website.
Got any beauty dupes you’ve found lately? Share your favorites with me in the comments below!
Thanks for stopping by. I’ll see you again on the next one! Ciao bella!

the Balm Balmsai – Review & Swatches

Hey there! Thanks for stopping by the blog today.

Ahhhh!!! Today is a good day to talk about Balmsai Eyeshadow and Brow Palette by the Balm. The weather is nice with spring finally here. Surprisingly, we had a quite a nice winter if it’s not for my health conditions.

A new thing to me that I wanted to share today is this big size palette by the Balm I just received a few days ago.

I always get super hyped when I see the Balm palettes and tempted to purchase every time at their website.

Let’s take a look!

the Balm Balmsai Palette includes 18 shades you can use for lids, liners and you also get an additional 3 brow shades and two transparent eye stencils/brow guide. Wouldn’t you feel like you can just dive right in! It says on the palette that you can either wear them wet or dry, intense with more drama or for just an everyday basic look.

I like all in one palette as they’re easy to travel with. It housed a good color selections of taupe and neutral brown shadows. The packaging is made from a sturdy cardboard just as their staple packaging from the Balm. I find that the slip cover useful because it could hold the palette tightly to avoid wear and tear while travelling. The outer box is a whimsical art featuring beach girl in her swimsuit.

In terms of the size you got quite a decent amount of products from this palette. My brush fits just fine into them. Yay!

Curve & Angle (Brow/Shadows) SCORE-DIG IT-WOODIE

Catch a Wave (Use Wet or Dry) STOKES-RIPPER-RIGHTEOUS

Overall, I’m just loving everything in this palette. Awesome pigmented eye shadows and the color variety is the best point about this palette. I find it to be versatile and this one may be my favorite, great spring and summer colors.

Here is an EOTD makeup look that created and hope you like it

What do you think of this palette? Make sure to leave your comments. I love to read them.

Thanks for checking out my blog everyone, and have a great day! I’d see you again on the next one.

Tarte Tarletelette Tease

Could I proclaim that I’m hooked with this Tartelette Tease. It’s great when a new discovery turns out to be worth the hype! I’ve read and heard Tartelette Matte and Clay palettes many times before and when I saw this at Sephora website. I ordered it right away.

Brand history: Tarte is a US beauty brand, with a cruelty and paraben-free range featuring natural ingredients such as nourishing Amazonian Clay and plant extracts.

If you wanted the new Tarte Tartelette Tease Palette (US$21) but didn’t order it yet. Probably now is the time to do it, now that it’s available at Sephora, The last time I checked at Ulta and Marcy websites, they have them too.

Left 1st column: Whisper and Wink Right, last column Heartbreaker and Bff are all matte. The middle column is where the shimmery shades of Crush and First Kiss are. Both shadows all work very well together when it comes to blending well. Love that it gives a flattering look too.

If you do prefer a neutral base eyeshadow palette, Tartelettre Tease is a good one to pick. It includes a mix of four matte and two shimmer shades in Crush and First Kiss. The shadows themselves are soft, blendable and very wearable, oh and that gold packaging and good size mirror. Other benefits include portability and great for every day looks.

The color swatch here is as per the color selection in the Tarte palette above.

Shades line up include:

  • Whisper (light pink)
  • Crush (taupe shimmer)
  • Heartbreaker (brown)
  • Wink (light mauve)
  • First Kiss (mauve shimmer)
  • BFF (plum)

I’m loving the rich tones of this new Tartelette collection. The texture is so soft, smooth and silky.

From finger color swatch, they look a little chalky if you tried to build it up and swatch on your arm but they do work well on the eyes with brushes. No fallout detected. Yipee!

The powders are so long lasting that I actually think this works out for the value of CAD$25.00.

Here is what I concluded. I honestly think is a great price for such a quality brand. If you fancy trying some new products or treating someone or yourself a birthday gift, I think this one absolutely worth the money.

What do you think of this Tartlette Tease? Leave your comments below.

Thanks for taking the time to read and hope to see you on the next one! If you have any questions or would like me to do a more in-depth post on any of these products, please  let me know – you can leave a comment below, on my Facebook page or email me.

Sugar Box Review, Photos & Swatch

This is my first SUGAR BOX Eyeshadow Palette (US$7.99)from ebay, and I’ll admit I was a bit skeptic at first. But there was a week when I found myself always reaching out for this palette when I’m doing my makeup. I got this for the holiday and I’m totally in love with this palette.

Let’s jump right in, shall we!

Sugar Box Natural Eye Makeup

The eyeshadow palette I got is in Natural Eye Makeup #03. Here’s a summary of this product:

  • Contain 10 pretty color shadows for different neutral look
  • In this palette there are four matte and six shimmering jewel finish shadows
  • Packed with nice versatile shade selection.
  • These are warm undertones shades that looks pretty amazing on the palette
  • Nicely pigmented color with smooth & silk texture ❤
  • Love the packaging

  • Would be great if they name their palettes instead of by # numbers. Less confusing
  • Some shadows I noticed to be a bit tardy on fall out

Let me elaborate more of this product.

Eyeshadow placement from left to right: the first six shadows are shimmery while the last four are matte finish.

I was so excited! I did the color swatch upon opening the package. Here’s the color swatch on bare arm (meaning with eye primer or base). Guys, what you see is what you get. These shadows stay true to its colors.

Beautiful color selection by Sugar Box

As far as the packaging goes, the size of the palette is small and sleek enough for travel and has a good size mirror with a decent duo eyeshadow brush which you could actually use if you want to.

The pigmentation on these eyeshadows are quite impressive for the price. They’re not the best but it does give you a good color payoff with a good primer or base on. I also noticed that they’re long wearing and doesn’t budge.

Color swatch on bare arm

The matte formula are unbelievably buttery and smooth. For the price, I consider this eyeshadow palette to be a pretty good buy. It has what you need and it does the job right. I will repurchase this again. I’m in love with the smooth texture and the neutral shades are just amazing.

Overall Rating: 4 out 5

What do you think of this palette? Have you heard of this brand before. Leave your comments below.

Thank you very much for stopping by and read.

Mont Balm Quad by theBalm

I feel I have too many eyeshadows and I’m still looking for ways to increase the size of my collection. I’m just super obsessed with eyeshadows and you can judge me if you like.

So, without any further ado, I present to you a new product item to my collection! Mont Balm!

mont balm by thebalm

If you have been following and reading my blog, you might have known that I’m a big fan of theBalm makeup products especially their eyeshadow palettes. Today, I I want to talk about take a peek Mont Balm by theBalm Eyeshadow Palette. It’s not a new released but I’ve been trying on this palette for a week and I’m in love. I ordered this through Amazon online. It’s unclear to me whether or not this is limited edition, and it also appears to be a Kohl’s exclusive, as it’s not available on theBalm’s site. If you see it elsewhere, don’t mind to share on the comment section below.

This palette comes in a cardboard material packaging with a lovely girl printed on the top cover. Inside are four eyeshadows with a decent size mirror. It has a magnetic closure which I noticed could be the staple packaging by the Balm.

The colors are beautiful and very wintery — there’s Zermatt, a shimmery dark charcoal, Aspen, a metallic warm burgundy, Whistler, a metallic slightly rosy taupe, and Cortina, a matte cream.

Mont balm – this is gorgeous and will be beautiful for winter time especially as a Holiday gift. I for one loved the affordable price point. So yay!

Some of thebalm’s palettes could be a hit or miss but, I’ll definitely be gravitating towards thebalm for the quality and pigmentation which I personally find them impressive.

These shadows can be applied wet or dry. Here are the the shadows picked up directly from the pan. The texture of the shadows is very soft and smooth, as with all of theBalm’s eyeshadows that I’ve tried.

Color swatches on bare hand – no eye base or primer were used. The only shade I can complain or that doesn’t perform quite as well in terms of pigmentation as I’d like it to is Zermatt, it’s a bit sheer at first, but it can be built up.

Other than that, I’d say that these shadows blend well with beauty shimmery finish which wasn’t overdone. I’m pleased with this Mont Balm Palette. I hope you found this post interesting and helpful.

Have you got this Mont Balm in your collection already? I would love to hear your comments.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read. Stay Beautiful!

Wednesday Epic Snag|Beauty & The Best With Quo

Quo is a Shoppers Drug Mart exclusive line of colour cosmetics and cosmetic accessories. Perhaps you’ve noticed Quo Cosmetics during your visit to one of Shoppers Drug Mart’s 1,200+ stores across Canada. The brand isn’t exactly new, having been a mainstay on Shoppers’ shelves exclusively for several years, but they’re catching the eye of the beauty mavens more and more thanks to their cute packaging innovations, on-trend colour stories, and affordable pricing.

If you’re like most girls and the first thing you gravitate toward is colour and packaging, then you’ll want to check out their eyeshadow palettes. There were three colors available at Shoppers Drug Mart only. All three are priced under $20.00 at Shoppers Drug Mart locations all across Canada. This palette is an ideal present pick that packs a lot of style into a small price tag of $16.00.

I’m a big fan of Quo eyeshadow palettes, a new obsession I recently acquired  – they really stand out in my collection.

Quo’s Summer 2015 Collection was on liquidation last week and if you guys have been reading my posts, you know that I love a great bargain and I love eyeshadow palettes. You can judge me I don’t care if it’s a summer collection, I love all these shades period.

Hence, this is my thoughts and opinion. Let’s get started since I have two beautiful products to talk about. I can’t promise if it’s going to be short but why take the chance, right! So, go get some popcorn or chips for it might be a long post 😛

Alrighty, first thing first. The moment I saw this cute packaging I so want it. I don’t really care if it’s a Summer Collection line since it’s the shades that drew me to get it. I first snagged Shades of Grey and when I scanned the price showing $5.00, I went back to pick another of the Color Me Eye Palette. Seriously, I had an epic mind blowing experience!

I love matte and shimmer eyeshadows – particularly around the holiday season – and I love cream eyeshadow. The tricky part is finding ones that will stay in place and not give you that awkward ridged stripy eye effect or fallout.

If you travel a fair bit, you’re going to love these mini travel friendly, Quo Eye Shadow Palettes in Color Me, Barely There and Shades of Grey.

They come packaged in a sturdy, watercolour design compact with full size mirror on the inside lid and 2 sponge brushes. Each palette features eight fairly pigmented, incredibly soft and creamy eye shadows within.

Give your a fresh or smoky eye makeup look with one of Quo’s eyeshadow palettes. A few quick swipes applied on the lids and crease does the work. With powder /cream shadows, I usually like to apply an eye base or eye primer all over the lid when I do a full face makeup. Apply your shadow and blend while the base is still wet. It works well on me for it locks the eyeshadow better. Shades of Grey is my new smoky palette to reach for now.

But on hand swatch, I skip the eye prime in order to show the actual colors you’ll get directly from the pan. These eyeshadows are true to its color.

It has the perfect array of matte, satin and shimmer shades in an assortment of barely there nudes, smoky greys and pale pink.

For the month of October, I must admit I was especially excited to have tried several new products. I’ve been trying all the products that I bought and so I technically have been digging deeper into my pocket to purchase more products 😛

But it was a relieved that some of the products were from liquidation and therefore this allows to support my lifestyle. Don’t get me wrong, I love buying high end products even on regular price.

Next palette I got is the Color Me Eyeshadow Palette. As you can see, the pigmentation is well average but I really like the shades on the furthest left. I expected better pigmentation from this bright color palette but don’t get me wrong, it’s still a nice shadow to pair with an eye primer.

I did experience a little fallout with some of the shimmery shades, but nothing I couldn’t work with. Each shade is easy to work with and blends out beautifully,

Quo is carried year-round, so be sure to pop by and see what they’ve currently got in store – if you’ve overlooked this brand in the past, don’t! They offer really beautiful colours at a great price point, and their accessibility simply can’t be beat. Check out their Holiday 2015 Collection in your store nearest to you. And if you stumbled upon these Summer 2015 Collection eyeshadow palettes for $5.00, I suggest you grab it.

I hope you enjoyed this long post, and as usual, please leave a comment below if you would like me to review anything. I can’t wait to start using my products now! (: Stay tuned for the next post of EOTD makeup tutorial, until next time STAY BEAUTIFUL!

Thanks for stopping by!

Hardy Candy Fierce Effects Eyeshadow

Beauty products just pop up every single day. With Holidays approaching just few months from now, the Beauty market is flooding with lovely gift sets and palettes. Since it’s Hard Candy‘s 24th Anniversary, I couldn’t pass on these single pretty eyeshadow pots which I had my eyes on since it was released.

In case you are new to Hard Candy beauty products, allow me to briefly explain that this brand is exclusive only to Walmart. So, if you’re interested to try them, visit your nearest Walmart Beauty section.

I picked up the New Fierce Effects Eyeshadow in 899 Lost & Found. Available in five intense color at Walmart on Hard Candy online. A Hot Pink and Blackened Purple. Apparently, these are supposed to be a dupe for L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadows.

Packaging wise, these are lovely. They’re sturdy, easy to open, easy to close, stay closed, and have a classic, simple look to them.

Texture is great. The loose powder is soft and creamy, easily picked up on a sponge-tip or brush.

On color swatch you can see the beautiful pearly shimmer on both the shadows. It feels smooth to touch and highly pigmented. But just like some shimmery formula, I noticed some sparkle fall out but the good point is that blends beautifully. Color pay-off is amazing. These things are seriously pigmented. On top of a primer, they pop even more. You can sheer them out or pack them on.

Go see it in person !!! Photos will never do it justice!

Overall, wonderful eyeshadows, the price is amazing. I can’t recommend these enough!

Thank you for taking the time to read.

Elf Brightening Eye Color : Photos & Color Swatches

elf makeup palette

Welcome to this week’s post review. Today’ I love to talk about the product from Elf. I did a mini beauty haul previously and I’m sharing with you some pictures, color swatches and product review. So, let’s hop in!

This Quad Essential Brightening Eye Color consists of other colors namely Luxe and Drama.

quad eyeshadow

Each quad is composed of 4 coordinating shades that allow for both natural and dramatic looks. A small built-in mirror tucked underneath the dual sponge applicator. Lovely packaging and easy to bring around in your purse.

elf brightening eye color swatches

I bought this in the shade “butternut” and it’s amazing for $1.00. I didn’t expect much for only $1.00 but each shade is nicely pigmented, smooth and blend easily. It has a slight shimmery finish. It’s not bad. Could be a bit more pigmented, but for a buck I’m not complaining. But I have to point this out so that you know. The downside which I notice visibly was the formula – it’s a bit chunky by using fingers but it blends well with eyeshadow brush.

elf color swatches

But see how it blends out so well on my bare hand. I don’t use primer or eye base when I do a color swatch. This is what you get from Elf Brightening Eye Color.

elf eyeshadow

No color fallout and it give a soft dewy finish which looks so natural and feeling care free. It’s a perfect shade for everyday wear. No touch up needed.

As I have mentioned in my earlier post, I noticed that the lighter shades don’t really show up on me but the darker two shades are beautiful as a duo. This would be a great product for some one who isn’t really experienced with eye shadows or you’re new to makeup as well as people who value the inexpensive price.

Which are your favorite products you always go back to with Elf? I love to hear your comments in the section below.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read.

Spice It Up With Cat Eyeliner Look

Wanna spice up some eye makeup look with a cat liner look. I’ve some simple and easy steps that anyone can do. Okay, I’m not a master beauty guru but here is what I learned throughout my blogging experience.

wet n' wild color icons eyeshadowWet n’ Wild Color Icons Eyeshadow Palette in Comfort Zone

Here’s how … a step-by-step tutorial:

  • I’m using the Liquid Eyeliner by LA Colors in Black.

cat eye liner

  • Apply eyeshadow on lid. Here I used a very light shade in Bare by LA Colors. Start lining from center of lid towards the outer corner, stop after drawing 1/2 ” or so- as shown.
  • Continue to line straight out. Make sure the end doesn’t exceed the end of your eyebrow tail.

cat eye liner step 1

  • Now join the end of the line to the outer end of your eye.
  • Line the rest of your eye starting from center to the inner corner. Try to make it thinner as it goes in.

cat eye liner step 2 jpg

  • Time to fill inside the lines now& tightline the inner part of your eye now, so there’s no visible gaps.

cat eye liner step 3

  • DONE!

cat eye liner step 4

Only for this look did I applied eyeliner before eyeshadows. I’m using the Wet n’ Wild Color Icons 8-pan eyeshadow palette in Comfort Zone. I used the green and brown shadows which works magnificently. Up it with the beige color as highlighter. Touch up with mascara and I’m really to face the world!

Easy right! Go and try it now and let me know what’s your experience like. Good luck!

Let me know if this cat eyeliner makeup tutorial is helpful? What’s your tips or tricks to do your cat eyeliner? Leave your comments below, for I love to read them.

3 Colors Eyeshadow by LA Colors|Review & EOTD

la color eyesgadow trio

I did mentioned in my previous post that I’ll be trying out some of the products from the mini beauty haul a week ago. So, I’ve tried them and I love to share my thoughts and opinion on this particular item from LA Colors.

I purchased this from Miss A online store and I’m happy with my purchase.  I’m going to talk about this 3 Color Eyeshadow in Dandelion by LA Colors for $1.00. Net wt: 0.19 oz. Oh yes, I paid $1.00 only for this eyeshadow and that’s a no brainer.

la colors swatches

Yes, these three expertly coordinated shades can be worn alone or together to create a array of looks. Complete with dual ended applicator in this chic palette.

Amazing pigmentation and the color payoff is insane. The formula feels creamy to touch and oh boy, it blend so well. Color swatch on bare hand and the shades are true to its color. Love it! Love it! There are 12 beautiful flower name options on their website but this shades speak to me the loudest.

The order in the palette: Pastel Yellow (satin matte), Rustic  Bronze (shimmer) and Deep Forest Green (shimmer) from left to right.

fall eotd look

I tried using the three shades available in this palette and I love the finish look very much. These color swatches were close to what you see in this eye makeup. So yay for that!

Also available at Target selected stores or drugstores or Dollar stores. LA Colors is a cruelty free  makeup brand.

Hope you liked this one!

Have you tried any LA Colors makeup products? If yes, which one. Don’t forget to leave your comment. I love to read and hear your comments.

Mac Eyeshadow in Lucky Green|Review

mac eyeshadow

I’ve reviewed the Mac Eyeshadow a couple of times and now I wanted to share this eyeshadow in Lucky Green by Mac which is a perfect color trend for this fall. I love the appearance of the eye makeup look which I’ve created from other Mac eyeshadows. Feeling very inspired, I started working on several different ETOD makeup looks for this post. I hope you would find some inspiration and finding this post helpful.

September is the transition period from summer to fall and the colours screamed dark vampy purple, green, golden orange, brown and deep sultry red! Anyways, I’ll be doing more of the fall ETOD makeup look in my coming posts. So, please stay tuned!

This is a very shimmery cream eyeshadow that blends easily. I wasn’t so sure about this shade of green, but it’s subtle and goes on sheer. They recommend applying it with a small brush.

I love the rich pigmentation and the color payoff is awesome. Another thing is that the shade is true to its color. What you see is what you get! If you love green as much as I do, then this emerald green would be excellent for you.

The texture runs smoothly and it’s long wearing too. This color swatch is on bare hand. So pretty!

I really love the Mac Eyeshadow! It’s a fun, pretty, and pigmented eyeshadow to get an amazing eye makeup look with quality product.

What do you think of  Mac Eyeshadow? Don’t forget to leave your comment in the comment section below.

Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by.
