Kat Von D Innerstellar Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches

Hey everyone! Nice to see you guys in my blog.

I recently featured quite a bit of eyeshadow palettes and this reminds me that I still have several palettes to go through or at least tried for a review.

It features transformative matte and shimmer shades in Kat Von D’s signature, high-pigment eyeshadow formula.

Top 3 from left to right:  gravitron – vast – lycan

Second row from left to right:  night crawler – dios – lunacy – astrological – darkstar – orion – 3am – moonshine – killing moon

This Innerstellar is notably a cool toned palette. I really love the shades but the formula doesn’t seems to wow me as much. You see, I’ve warm under toned and cooler shadows sometimes just didn’t cut it. If you’re cool-toned person, you’re going to enjoy this more than I do.

The texture of the eyeshadows, on the whole, was soft, finely-milled, and smooth. There were a couple that were a little powdery, but some were really easy to work with.

Here are the color swatches of Innerstellar:

Top to bottom:

Gravitron is a cool-toned, iridescent pink-white with lilac shimmer.

Vast is a muted, medium taupe brown with a subtle, gray tint and a soft, frosted finish.

Lycan is a bright, yellow-toned, creamy white with a matte finish.

There are only two shadows (lycan & kiling moon) in this palette with matte finish, while the rest are either metallic or shimmery finishing. They blend easily on lids which is awesome. I don’t find any problem with applying and blending.

Color Swatches from top to bottom:

Killing Moon is a deep black with a matte finish and neutral undertones. The texture is a little dry but it doesn’t seems powdery.

Moonshine is a brightened silver with a metallic sheen. I find the texture for this shade to be smooth and fairly pigmented. It does kick up some powder, I just to put it out there for you guys.

3AM is a brightened, light-medium warm taupe brown with a frosted, metallic finish. The texture is soft and has great color payoff.

Orion is a medium-dark brown with subtle, warm undertones and a satin finish. It feels silky and finely-milled. I would hope that it’s a little darker to fit this palette selection better. I find the shade to be a little weak compared to the other rest of the shadows.

Darkstar is a deep, gray taupe with a metallic sheen. Best pigmentation and creamy. I can say that this is my favorite color after Moonshine.

Astrological is a bright lavender with a subtle golden sheen. The texture is soft and pretty. Very decent pigmentation.

Lunacy is a medium-dark, cool-toned purple with a frosted sheen. I find the texture ran a little drier but it has good color payoff.

Dios is a muted, silver-shimmered dark gray with bluish tones and a soft, satiny finish. It a little powdery and drier but I’m not overly concerned with it since it blends well on the outer v.

Night Crawler is a cool-toned, taupe with strong gray tones and a satin finish. Very nice pigmentation and it went on smooth and easily. An everyday shade I would reach for.

Here is a quick eye makeup look from the shadows I used:.

Browbone – Lycan

Lids – Orion

Crease – Astrological

Outer corner – Lunacy

Inner corner – Gravitron

Under eye – Lunacy

Center eye – Moonshine (to make eyes look more popped)

What do you think of this palette? Which KVD is your favorite? I love to hear your comments.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by and read. I’ll see you again on the next one!

Have a great day everyone! Bye!

MAC Eyeshadow -Color Swatch And Review

mac eyeshadow in nocturnelle

I like the MAC eyeshadows due to their great quality, they are easy to blend, most of them have a nice colour pay off and they are crease free and even water resistant. In my previous post, I talked in full length of switching up your summer to a fabulous fall and I just got this pretty purple eyeshadow to share with you guys.

Note: Please excuse for the lighting of these pictures taken. It was taken with natural lighting but they appeared more blue on pictures than of being purple 😦

mac eyeshadow

I got this eyeshadow in the shade ‘Nocturnelle’ by MAC and it is now my favorite eyeshadow to-date. It has a purple and blue undertone, which has some pop to it.

The Mac eyeshadows are super pigmented and soft. And I love the range of colors, and all the finishes. So yay to that!

Look at the texture and be mesmerized by it. A lovely shade to transition from summer to fall.

Color swatch swiped directly from the pot. It gives a glittery and satin smooth finish. It feels buttery and blend well. If you love shimmer shadows then look no further. This Mac eyeshadow is made for you 🙂

I love working on purple and brown color shadows especially for fall. On this look I think it’s a very pretty transition color for fall. I used the L.A. Color liquid liner to winged it out for finishing touch. This is an everyday look which is soft and subtle. But if you like something more dramatic, you can continue by applying the same color brown on the crease to the lower lash line and smoky it out. The frosty purple glitter really makes my brown eyes pop. I love that it’s not boring and has that little ‘oomph’ to it. I really am happy the way it turned out. Just like the way I like it – on point! 😀

Which color shadow makes your eyes pop? Don’t forget to leave your comment below.

Thank you so much for taking your time out to read this post which I really appreciate. And I hope to see you again on my next one.

Mac Studio Finish Concealer – SPF 35

mac studio finish concealer

Concealer has got to be the best thing at covering up flaws and imperfections on your skin, and MAC’s Studio Finish Concealer is hands down my new Holy Grail concealer!  I got this from my daughter for my belated birthday gift after she came back from South East Asia.

This concealer is water resistant and fragrance free. The shade is in NW15 with SPF35. I have been trying on this bad boy for more than a week and I’m loving it.

The packaging reminds me of a lip gloss pot. Also as it’s so small you can take it with you if you go out to touch up during the day. Now while I’m on the subject, I don’t actually feel the need to touch up at all as it has very good staying power. So, yay!!!

I love this concealer on first sight! The texture is really creamy and opaque, great for covering blemishes or redness and effectively covers dark circles. You can also use it to brighten your under eye area after a full eye makeup.

The formula is lightweight and the result is impressive. This concealer is so concentrated that a little goes a long way and it gives a nice full coverage without looking cakey. I find that the best method to apply this concealer is by lightly tapping it with your ring finger instead of brush. If you’re used to applying with brush then by all means continue with whichever you feel comfortable. I find that with finger this concealer glides on flawlessly because your body heat warms the product up. This makes it super easy to blend onto dark spots and especially onto under eyes.

I would definitely recommend this concealer as it easily blends and covers and will last for a long time. Do not be put off by the price. This is worth the investment.

What is your Holy Grail concealer? I’d love to hear your comments on the section below.

As usual, thank you so much for stopping by.

Sharon xoxo

Drugstore Madness Wednesday|Quo Back To Basics Eyeshadow Palette

Quo Back to basics palette

I’m an eyeshadow palette junkies, and I’m not going to hide it. I got to admit that I’m super obsessed with eyeshadow palettes.

So, today, I’ll be sharing with you another new brand which caught my eyes at Shoppers Drug Mart ( Canadian drugstore). I love this palette! It was re-released again this year as part of the Quo Holiday 2013 collection and I bought mine like just recently. Regular price was $25.00 but I got this for a special discount. Uh huh! I paid $15.00 only for this bad boy! I’m grinning from ear to ear 😀  Absolutely love, love the price but let’s get down to business … inside the palette, whahaha!

qua eyeshadow palette

This Quo Back to Basics Eyeshadow Palette contains 12 gradient eyeshadow shades including light, neutral and darker, smokey shades along with a full-size eyeshadow brush. Does this palette reminds you of any high end ones? I’ll review the answer below for this palette could be a dupe. Continue reading …

The packaging is of cardboard material but sturdy. I like the pattern on this year’s palette better, still gold, still beautiful but not too busy and more elegant. It also has a magnetic closure with a decent size mirror inside. Net wet: 12 x 1g = 12g. It has a clear plastic film placed on top of the eyeshadows, taped down on three sides. This will help avoid testing/ contamination, which is always a plus.

the brush

The brush fluffy, thicker and soft. It works well for packing on eyeshadows. Black handle, with gold ferule. A small detail but I think Quo should put its brand logo on the handles of these brushes, making them look more professional and with brush numbers. That would be cool!!!

quo palette

The shadows are lovely and pigmented, and are also pretty and wearable shades that would suit everyone. The shades are so wearable or versatile.

UD vs Qua palettes

I honestly love it! Its very similar to the Urban Decay Naked palette, but half the price. It features very similar colors as the Naked Palette. The Quo shadows have a great texture. They wear very well and blend nicely. All of the shadows have great pigmentation, especially the darker shadows.

UD naked palettenaked palette by UD

Since I’ve my beloved Urban Decay Naked |Palette, |I’m going to show you the comparison between these two palettes and I’ll tell you if this Quo could be a dupe for the Naked |Palette at the end of this post.

Above is the Urban Decay Naked Palette with the color swatches on my bare hand. That’s right, not on any primer just naked. What you see is what you get! It’s my most favorite eyeshadow palette from Urban Decay.

Naked vs Quo

Thought you guys want to know how close it is to Urban Decay Naked palette, so let’s get to it.

Here they are, Naked on the top and Back to Basics on the bottom. First glance, they are very close except for Toasted (fourth shade in from the right) looking a little lighter than the shade from Quo. The size of both palettes and colors are so closely similar. The order of the shadow placements in the palette and even the shadow brush. Whoa! Too much insanity here, right now! But you still haven’t seen the color swatches yet. Scroll down below.

Oh yeah! Now what do you think? Can you spot the difference?

light shades palette

I don’t know about you but I can’t tell them apart except at closed-up or on swatches. Even though I know that Quo makes good eyeshadows but I am still impressed to see how smooth these applied and how similar they are to their Naked counterparts.

darker shade palette

The texture of this Quo is freaking amazing. It’s buttery soft and so smooth. Blends so ell and live the soft shimmery finish. It has 4 matte shades in this palette which is pretty awesome!

color satches comparison

Here are the color swatches on bare arm as usual. Amazing pigmentation on both palettes. I did not experience any chalky texture or fallout from either palette. OMG! I got so giddy while swatching, I couldn’t stop smiling. I love Quo!

light shades swatches

Lighter shades comparison and the darker 6 down below. The lighter shades you could definitely use them as highlighter or on your inner corner wherelse the darker shades are more my go to colors for nude, dramatic and smokey eyes.

darker shades swatches

As suspected, Toasted UD swatched (on the left) has a darker bronze while the Quo shade showed up as a lighter bronze. The other three follow most of the pairs compared above: dupes head on! In fact, I think the Quo shade that is paired with Gunmetal might actually more pigmented.

ud nakedquo eyeshadow look

You can easily create casual looks , as well as beautiful soft cut crease. The top picture I’m wearing the Urban Decay Naked Palette and the one below is Quo Back To Basics Palette. Can you spot any difference whether it’s a high end product or a drugstore brand?

I would absolutely recommend this palette to anyone! It’s a great value , and an overall great product. Note that the palette is Limited Edition, as part of the holiday collection which you can still find some at some local Shoppers Drug Mart. Head over there today and grab this while it lasts.

This palette is good for beginners or for collectors considering the price of $25.00 compared to Urban Decay which is $60.00. And, it’s not a must have if you already have Naked Palette. Let’s just say this is a budget friendly alternative 🙂

I love to hear what you think of this palette if you have tried them before and share your comments down below.

Thank you for taking your time to read. Truly appreciate it.

High End Mini Beauty Haul!

Hey friends!
Oh yes! Another mini haul for this week. Have I told you lately that I love doing beauty hauls? Okay, I probably have and if not, now you know that I do :-). Last week, I ordered some makeup products and they arrived by mail today. So, let’s continue reading and see what’s in …. posting.

high end beauty haul

Yay!!! You got it. That’s some awesome products which I have been trying to get hold of. I have been getting lots of drugstore makeup and recently I just wanted to expand my obsession a little more to some high end products. The culprit may be because of all the great deals and holiday special promotion that lures me into opening my wallet wider 😦

Let’s start, I got some cool stuff like this Benefit Brows a-go-go, Too Faced Concealers and a Mac Matte Lipstick.

closed up mini haul high end beauty haul (2)

Benefit Brows a-go-go ($38.00) / Too Faced Concealers in Honey and  Perfect Nude ($20.00 each) / Mac Matte Lipstick in Lady Danger ($16.00).

Brows a-go-go by Benefit has this exclusive kit you can line and define your brows AND eyes wherever you go-go. It’s got everything you need for a professional eye-look anytime, anywhere. It comes with a light and dark powder shades for brows and darker chocolate as the wax. This kit contains brow highlighter powder on the left and eye bright in the pinkish color. It also has a smoking liner pencil, mini tweezers and talent brush dual-end all in the same compact kit.

Too Faced claims that their concealer is long-lasting, creamy concealer that gives you the power to create sheer-to-full coverage. Able ti hide imperfections and mask redness. Super pigmentation. It fights puffiness and has natural ingredient that hydrates. It comes in a small tube but a little goes a long way.

A full reviews will be up after I have tried them thoroughly which includes color swatches, photos, makeup look and my two cents opinion.

mac matte lipstick

Mac Matte Lipstick in Lady Danger which is a coral red shade which I really like. I haven’t got many coral color lipstick and I can’t wait to wear this lovely shade.

I’m so excited with so many makeup goodies that I’ve ordered and don’t go away for more exciting and new makeup products on my upcoming posts.

Hope this mini haul helps and you find it interesting. I really enjoy doing this beauty haul and I hope that you have as much fun reading as I do writing.

As usual, thanks for reading.
