Blogmas – Clinique 10 Days Advent Calendar (Unboxing)

Hey guys! The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year! It’s finally here, December the first means that it is officially the start of Blogmas for many bloggers.

And I’m talking about Clinique Cosmetics from Sephora today. Here’s what I got in my mail and yes I’ve been so caught up with tons of things and health problems happening in parallel but hey I got some makeup products sorted out for today’s post anyways.

10 Days of Clinique calendar isn’t quite Advent-y, but it’s in a pretty box with 10 little doors.

What’s in this box? This calendar contains 10 selection of Clinique treats! There’s makeup and skincare goodies to keep you stocked up right through advent. It’s CAD$51.00 at Sephora

It’s all deluxe size products. I think this would be a perfect gift for someone you know who travels a lot or who loves to sample products.

I’ve used this brand since my teenage time and it always holds a special place in my heart. This is one brand which never fails to impress since dinosaur years (giggle).

I’m really really excited, so let’s do this.

Day 1 – Clinique Chubby Stick moisturizing lip color balm in Pudgy Peony. This is a pretty color for fall/winter.

Day 2 – Moisturizing Lotion for Very dry to Dry Combination skin type. I’ll say, I do enjoy the formula very much. It’s super creamy and moisturizing and nice on the face.

I’ll definitely be trying out these products more and will share my thoughts in due course.

Overall, I’m very satisfied with what I got in this calendar. These are deluxe size products which I find them handy for travelling and if you’re into trying out Clinique’s products before getting a full size, this would be an awesome pick this holiday.

Need to find this post later?  Why not just Pin this to your favorite Beauty themed board!

Thanks a million for be an awesome friend! Hope you’ve a lovely week. [muah]

Question Tuesday! Let’s Talk Mascara

mascara selections
by source

Question for you: What do you think makes for a good mascara? This is the question I asked myself when I’m testing out on mascaras for reviews.

Here is a few reason why you need a waterproof mascara and how it transforms our look. The last thing we want is to have a dreaded panda eyes, if you know what I mean.

We all know very well that mascaras can be clumpy, messy, claggy, flaky, too wet, too dry, plastic brush, curved brush, bristle brush. And for those of you who are new to makeup world, it’s important that you take note of this endless list of the fate of the mascara.

I think it’s crucial to know what works and what not in terms of performance and durability of a mascara sine I don’t think any of us wants big black dripping panda eyes before we even get off the bus on our way to work or for brunch with our blogger friends.

Comment below what’s on your mind and with wedding, holiday and hay fever season just around the corner finding the perfect waterproof mascara may well be on your mind, am I right?

Alrighty, so that’s pretty much it for today’s post! Hope to see you guys again on the next one. Bye!

Thank you for stopping by to read.

Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Color Eyeshadow Quad – Review & Swatch

I’ve been wanting to try Elizabeth Arden like forever.  And I finally decided to dive in and try this Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Color Eye Shadow Quad.

In this post I’m going to be writing about a stunning eye palette, the Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Color Eye Shadow Quad – Posh Purples.

I purchased this Posh Purples by Elizabeth Arden  because it looks like many eye shadow colors that I own. It’s got a good color selection that I can reach for every time I feel like wearing purple eye makeup.

Other limited edition beautiful color eye shadow quad is in Golden Opulence and Chic Browns for US$40.00 online at Elizabeth Arden website.

This palette comes complete with a double-sided eye shadow brush with a decent size mirror in a sleek white compact that adorned with a glided plaque. Charming isn’t it!

These colors are all gorgeous with flattering tones. You get two shimmery, one glitter and matte shadows. It’s quite versatile and that makes it easily to create any look you like.

When it comes to the texture of powders you can really feel the difference between high-street and high-end brands, although I do want to point out that high-street brands are catching up and very fast!

The packaging is super-cute and has a luxury touch about it plus all the colors are indeed flattering!

Can you all see the goodness of these eyeshadows in that pan?  Aaaaahhhh!!!

Another point worth mentioning is that the formula goes on smoothly and lasts all day and night. Amazing results when it comes to blending and buildable to the tone your desire. I would say it has quite a high-pigment color with a crease-resistant finish.

Here are the color swatches on my bare arm. It’s there and it’s in full effect. Every time, I take a picture of a swatch with lighter shades, you barely see it but this pink glitter shadow (on the left) is so pretty. I wear it on my lids and brow bones for this look.

Posh Purples EOTD look without applying a primer where I used this palette to create the look above . The purple color formula is intense and has very good color payoff. Love it!

All in all, not bad at all I would say. It gave nice blended finish look and it’s really easy to bring anywhere you go in your purse.

Which of the Elizabeth Arden makeup products would you like to try?  Leave answer in the comments below. As always I love hearing from you so let me know what you think of this palette!

Babes In BLOGLAND Collaboration – HOLIDAY GIFT

Come Drool Over!

Somehow it’s always more fun buying makeup around the holidays. The colours seem more sparkly and vibrant. The packaging is out-of-this-world cute (or luxe). And do I even have to mention the value you get when brands package up three, four (or, like Lancôme, 14!) different sample top picks products in one single gift bag?!? I mean, they’re practically giving this stuff away.

Now… what to get all the other women in your life? Help is here!

I’ve this idea of getting this beautiful gift set that something I would be elated to receive myself—from luxe makeup such as this gift set by Lancôme Cosmetics. It’s valued for C$308.00 with 15 pieces of beauty products and a special edition for this holiday. The special promotion luxurious Holiday SET will be yours for only C$67.00 with purchase offer.

In case you just followed my post or just passing by I want to mention that it’s our second post instalment on Blogmas Holiday Collaboration where I teamed up with three very good friends from Hello Kaily, Curly Spring Blossom and Stash Matters. I’ll put their links below and if you are excited to read what they have in their beautiful blogs, don’t forget to head over to check them out.

I’m thrilled, so let’s get started!

Train Case by Lancôme

This is part of my early Christmas gift from my honey bear. He made me promised not to open the others until Christmas morning (gah!!!) Hence, I’ll have a feature schedule set as “Christmas Gifts Unwrapped” after Christmas with all of you.

But I promise him to open just this one since I’ve been holding back for far too long. This case is too cute and all the makeup looks so pretty to touch but I want to do this for all of you.

A Lovely Train Case or makeup travel bag!

It’s a gift of sharing what’s in this Train Case that keeps me so excited.

Inside the Travel Case

You will get the following items:

  • Advanced Genifique Youth Activating concentrate
  • Bi–Facil Double Action Eye Make Remover
  • Color design Sensational Effects Lipcolor in Designer Bloom and Trendy Mauve
  • Delicate Oil Free Powder Blush in Shimmer Mocha Havana
  • Juicy Tube Ultra Shiny Gloss
  • Khol Eyeliner Pencil in Black Ebony
  • Color Design 5 Shadow & Liner Palette for Warm Day and Warm Night
  • Booster XL Super- Enhancing Mascara Base
  • High Definition Mascara in Black
  • Dual-end Liner and Shadow Brush
  • Cosmetic Bag in Gold
  • Train Case

There are so many great Lancôme products that it’s quite hard to pick only three, so I’ve chosen my favorites from their recent launches. The rest of the products will be reviewed subsequently.

Here are some of my quick take:

Color Design 5 Shadow & Liner Palette for Warm Day

I noticed the packaging of these palettes have been revamped to look similar to Naked Basics Palette. The older packaging retailed for C$57.00 which is on a high price tag if you asked me. I recommend getting this Travel Bag for C$67.00 with purchase at Pharmaprix Pincourt or at Shoppers Drug Mart while stock lasts. This bag is totally worth it.

The light shades are good as highlight and neutral shades which also includes a grey liner that is perfect for day wear.

Color Design 5 Shadow & Liner Palette for Warm Night

There’s a really good mix of matte. shimmer and metallic shades included and I’m pleased to say that every single one is seriously pigmented and super easy to blend. I’ve been really drawn to the shades rustic copper, gold and bronze. They have just the right of shimmer in to give a luxe look and the pigmentation is so, so good.

I know that this Train Case GIFT Bag with purchase is a limited edition but couldn’t confirm if these eyeshadow palettes would be a permanent feature. In other words, this is one of the few I’d recommend that you rush to buy if. It’s definitely going to be a favorite in my makeup bag for months to come.

Which of these two do you like the look of this palette from Lancôme?

Color design Sensational Effects Lip color in Designer Bloom and Trendy Mauve

If you ask me, there’s always room for another nude lipstick in your collection (yes, I am an enabler). But here’s what makes these different. I find the formula to be very moisturizing and so pigmented.

This is major. I hate it when a lipstick looks good when you first put it on, only to get dull, disappear and/or dry out a short while later. Does this sounds familiar to you? Another thing is that, I also get sad when colors look amazing in the tube, but then let too much of your natural lip tone show through.

It really coats your lips and hydrates them, and stays on really well. Somehow, the muted berry with the satin and a nice mauve feels modern all of a sudden—everything old is new again!—and it really flatters, in a late ’80s sort of way. Am I crazy? 😛

I’ll be doing lots of color swatches and reviews in the next coming posts.

Blush Subtil Delicate Oil Free Powder Blush in Shimmer Mocha Havana

I love a product that gets to work and blend easily, especially if it requires minimal effort on my part (yes, I’m IMPATIENT) lol!

On its website it says this luxuriously silky powder blush glides on with its own brush to color and contour for a flawless application every time. I’m intrigued to try and let me tell you, I love the soft, sheer color that’s very natural but gives a hint of glimmer. Love it!

It’s available in six beautiful shades for $C40.50 sold separately in case you’re curious.

Do you like the look of this blush from Lancôme ?

lancome cosmetics holiday gift bag

I got here lots of packet samples with my Lancôme purchases. I’ve started trying some and here are my thoughts and opinion.

Clarins I liked these beauty flash balm, extra firming night cream and exfoliating cleanser, it’s got me interested in trying other Clarins skin care products in full size.

Shiseido  I don’t think I’ve ever used a Power Infusing Concentrate that hasn’t done its job and left my skin feeling smooth, soothing fresh and smells amazing. This is no exception.

IDC – This costs like a million dollars and I’ve used better that cost 99% less. IDC is also a Canadian brand which is stepping up to skin care department recently.

Jouviance –  I’ve been curious about Jouviance skincare line as I love Canadian brand, but this had a tendency to cause me breakout. Bummer! I’ve sensitive skin and I can tell if the product cause me any breakout on the same day. But just to make sure I’m really sensitive to this Powerful Antioxidant Moisturizer, I tried it again the second day and I get the same result. So, I stop and confirm this isn’t working out for me.

Prada – for men. I love how my honey bear smells wearing Prada eau de toilette. Aahhh!!! So sporty, makes me want to hug him even more LOL! A perfect gift for your love ones this holiday season. Head over to Pharmaprix or Shoppers and ask for a tester sample. You’re going to make someone truly happy!

Total samples killed: All

It’s running between the 14th November and till stock lasts and would make a lovely HOLIDAY Gift for any Lancôme fan. HEAD over to your nearest Pharmaprix or Shoppers Drug Mart and ask for this special promotion. Don’t forget to use your Optimum card to load your points. I got 20x points when I spent $75.00 at the beauty section. So yay!

I wanted to do a shout out to beauty team at Beauty Gallery Pincourt, Pharmaprix which I’ve been frequenting. The sales promoters are very friendly and helpful. I love shopping at Pharmaprix for their special sales and reward points  It one of my favorite places to shop for beauty products and if you’re in that area, drop by and mention you read my blog. Also available at Pharmaprix, drugstores, Shoppers Drug Mart (SDM), Sephora, Lancôme online, Hudson Bay and drugstores.

I’ll be trying out all the products and will write reviews in the next coming posts.

Dupe or Dud|Eyeshadow Palettes

Finding dupes for products you love is the best way to save money. No doubt the process could be challenging and time consuming but here’s where I come in. Recently, I just found a product which could be a dupe or dud and I’ll explain it further down in this post. I’m excited so let’s jump right in ….

NK3 vs

I’m using these two palettes as you can on the picture above to compare if The Blushed Nudes by Maybelline is a dupe for the Urban Decay Naked Palette 3. Well, you may know that Maybelline has recently launched a few of the larger 12 pan palette which makes so many of us excited, right and The Blushed Nudes was the new palette on the block.

Well, I have another palette from Maybelline which is the original The Nudes Palette of which I put a full review in the link here. It’s a neutral shade eyeshadows with a mixed of warm and cool and matte and some shimmery which I don’t think they’re trying to dupe any Naked 1 or 2 palette but when I saw The Blushed Nudes at Walmart I can see the resemblance of it with Naked 3 palette. I put a flash picture up beside each other as you can see on the picture above.

naked palette 3

Here you can see that it’s not only that they have the same color to tee but it looks like the colors are in the same order.

NK3 eyeshadow palette

Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette shadows are very creamy pigmented and the shades are gorgeous. There are three matte shadows and nine with shimmery finish. This Naked 3 has seemingly the most cool pink color shades in one palette followed by Taupe.

UD Naked 3 color swatches

Here are the color swatches right out from the pan. Awesome shades from Naked 3 Palette, right?

The blushed Nudes palette

I noticed that the Blushed Nudes has a decent pigmentation on the darker shades but the lighter shades doesn’t seems to show up on my light-medium skin tone. I really really want to love this palette but I could only use half of this palette. On the other hand, I can wear all the eyeshadows on my Naked 3 palette.

maybelline eyeshadow palette

Inside look of The Blushed Nudes 12 pans palette by Maybelline.

The Blushed Nudes Palette is a nice palette if you love shimmery and satin finish but sadly it has only one matte color in Mauve (5th shade on the top row swatched) which I’m a little disappointed for it’s so light that the color doesn’t even show up on these color swatches above and bottom pictures.

nk3 vs blushed nudes

For this purpose, I primed my arm which I don’t usually do on normal swatches for a better view. The top row is the Naked 3 Palette and the bottom row is The Blushed Nudes. Naked 3 has a wider range of pinkish tones and the pigmentations are right off the bat richer. The texture was so much creamier and smoother than the other palette.

Naked 3
Naked 3
The Blushed Nudes
The Blushed Nudes

As far as outlast and out wear, I feel that both of these palettes are quite compatible worn with eye base, In terms of price, there is a huge difference but when comparing quality, I still reach for my Urban Decay Naked 3 palette simply because the shades are more versatile and it’s rich in pigmentation which The Blushed Nudes lacks on some of the shadows. So, Urban Decay is still the winner in my book. I’m not saying that it’s a bad palette. For a drugstore brand and affordable price with decent quality, I think it’s on point to cater for different market group considering L’oreal owns Urban Decay and Maybelline. This is a no brainer for beauty fanatics on a budget, right?

There may not be dupes for every single shade in the Naked 3 palette here, but there are shimmers and mattes in the Blushed Nudes palette that very closely resemble shades in the Naked 3 palette. And you know what? That’s good enough for me when I’m on a budget buy!

Whew. I think that about covers it..for now! Any questions about anything mentioned above, just let me know on the comment section below.

Do you think it’s a dupe or dud?

Thank you as usual for taking the time to read.

Happy Wednesday Beauties!

Hope you guys had a wonderful weekend and since it’s Wednesday, let’s get started with my Top 3 Picks of Lipsticks. This post is a beauty collaboration with my good friend, Ingrid from CurlySpringBlossom. And if you are new here, well basically what we do every Wednesday is to pick Top 3 makeup products and share our thoughts and opinion.

top 3 lipsticks - sharon beauty

Last week, we started our new theme on Eyeshadow Palettes, I’ll leave a link below you like to check it out and this week’s star is Lipsticks.

It’s a difficult choice to make since I have pick three out of my 42 lipsticks and counting. So, I tried my best and here are the winners for the month of May. Here are my Top 3 picks of Mac, Revlon and Milani. Bold red and neutral nude lipsticks are my favorite shades of all times. So, I didn’t have the heart not to pick them up.

mac ruby woo

This Retro Matte Lipstick in Ruby Woo by Mac is not a spring or summer color shade but I just love this brilliant red shade I got for mother’s day. I’m so happy I could touch the sky when I took a glance at this magnificient red. Omg!!! The pigmentation is creamy and the matte is gorgeous It leaves some pretty color stain on lips at the end of the day. I have several shades from Mac but I got to say this Ruby Woo is going to my favorite lipstick that I know I’ll be going back to every time I need a sexy and bold lips. I didn’t get the chance to write a full review yet on this Retro Matte but it’ll be posted up latest next week. So, don’ forget to check back 🙂

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Blushed is one of my favorite drugstore brand for lip colors. I adore all the shades in this collection line. I’ve many different shades in my stash and all I know is that it’s growing as I speak. I just picked up 3 shades recently from my local drugstore and I’ll be writing a review on this as well in my next post. This new shade I got is in Blushed that gives a pearly finish. The shade Blushed reminds me of this year’s color pantone “Marsala”. On swatch. the texture is highly pigmentation with pearly shine finish.

Milani Color Statement Lipstick in Naturally Chic is a nude shade for my everyday look. It has a wide range of  27 lovely color shades to choose. I did a review on this lipstick and you can check it out at the end of this post where I’ll put a link below. Milani offers many impressive quality products and with cruelty free certified, it leaves me chasing for more.

So, that’s my top 3 picks on lipsticks which I really love. I hope you enjoy reading this post and let me know what your experience is been like with these and realise this that I’m just one person, what works for me might not work for everyone. If you like my opinion this is what I like a lot.

How to pick a bold lip color?

Hey lovelies!

The right red lip color is a classic that never goes out of style be it day or night. Especially the red lips that looks so gorgeous on others but not on you. You’re not alone. Finding the right shade is easier said than done. For nothing worthwhile is gained so easily. Let me tell you how.

Revlon Love is on Gladiolus

Lipsticks are those things that you need to develop a comfort level with. Some women find it easy, while for others takes a little while through trial and error. Finding their comfort level wearing a bold lip color takes time.

So, the easiest way to make sure which red lip color speaks to you is basically through trial and error. If you like to wear red then going to the makeup counter and try a few shades will bring great result. It will be worth the time and investment.

Here are some of the shades which I like to share here with you. I branched out and try four different color hues.

Lip colors: Burgundy/Tomato Red/Plum/Raspberry (Sonia Kashuk lip palette)

dark red orangy lip rasberry plum

Use this as a guideline to find your perfect red lip color.

Cool skin tones – your skin has pink or bluish red. Often a blue based/red with hints of pink, fuchsia or rose works best.

Warm skin tones – your skin has yellow to olive undertone. Then consider wearing orange/tomato red, bronze or burgundy will play up the golden or olive undertones of your skin.

Simple makeup – to get the best result of showing a sexy and gorgeous looking lips, underplay the mascara, eyeshadow to a more neutral look while keeping the blush the same color family as the lips. The red lips is like the bride and the others, the bridesmaids. Well, we all know that bridesmaids should never upstage the bride, right!

Getting a radiant lips and neutral makeup is an easy way to add glamour to an ordinary day or night. Don’t be shy and experiment the right shades and texture that fit your style. Whether you read this and follow my suggestions or come across a red lip color that is right for you, I bet you won’t regret it.

Which is your favorite red bold color lipstick?

Thanks for reading.

Top 5 Tuesday Favorite Foundations

top 5 fave foundations
It’s a beautiful day and I really wanted to talk more about some of my current Top 5 Tuesday Favorites in makeup categories. To start off with, I think Ill do the foundations which I got from drugstores and retail stores. When it comes to foundations, I own more drugstores foundations than high ends. Why is that, I’m not sure.  I prefer to think that I like to pick up foundation that I can share my experiences here with all of you. I don’t owned a lot of foundations but it’s piling up in my makeup box for sure. I’ll be going all out to hunt and trying getting more different foundations to share my thoughts.

L-R: Revlon Agre Defyingfoudnation |Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Gel Foundation|L’oreal Visible Lift Serum Absolute Foundation | Ahava Mineral Makeupcare| Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse Foundation

As you can see I have included 2 higher end foundations, one in serum gel and the other in mineral formula.
top 5 color swatches
Here are the color swatches I made earlier today to show how the texture were from the packaging. I really like all these shades that actually complement my skin tone perfectly.
The darkest shade is the Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse on the farthest left swatch. I love this as it’s so feathery light and it blends so well, giving a lovely medium coverage finish. I picked up the mousee foundation in Honey Beige (4) shade for this.

Next up is the Ahava Mineral Makeup on the 2nd left swatch. This is a special foundation which I really like since it’s light on skin with sheer-average natural finish look. Ahava has a limited color choice and the one I picked was the Terra Dark.

Closed up color on how the formula blends.
Next is the L’oreal Visible Lift in Honey Beige (155). This shade seems to have a little bit peachy color tone which dressed my warm  undertone amazingly. Love the medium coverage and the smoothness it gives. The good thing about this formula is that it allows layering up for full coverage.

Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum has a paler color swatch but that’s like the 3rd darkest from their selection of 6 shades. I picked mine  in Dark Beige (55). Love the texture and the 16 hour radiance booster it claims. I’m definitely loving the scents of these fruity formula that gives instant anti-fatigue.

Finally to my top 5 favorite Revlon Age Defying foundation in Honey Beige (35).  It has 12 color shades selections to choose. It’s fragrant free and The texture blends so well and it has lovely medium coverage. My skin does looked more radiant with slight natural glow finish.

That’s it for this week’s Top 5 Tuesday Fave foundation and I hope you find it helpful and interesting.

What drugstore foundation are your favorites? Am I missing out on any good ones?
Thanks for stopping by.
