Drugstore Beauty Haul – Joe Fresh

Hey guys! This January I’ve set myself a challenge: aside from the healthy eating/fitness challenges you get with the start of any New Year, I’ve set myself the mission to be a little more minimalist.

Drugstore beauty hauls are some of my favorite blog posts to read. So a few weeks ago, I decided to pick up some beauty bits from my favorite brand Joe Fresh. I didn’t go too crazy – I’m on a bit of a minimalist kick at that moment. If you like Joe Fresh brand then I think you’ll appreciate all of these products I’m about to show you.

So when Maxi Grocer running one of their beauty clearance,  you know it won’t take long before you’ve stocked up enough for a life supplies. LOL! It may result in a few ‘unnecessary’ or ‘impulse’ purchases but I didn’t go overboard this time.

I’ve been looking for a nice mousse blush to try and was really excited to pick up not one but two blushes at my local Joe Fresh counter.

Starting with this brand’s mousse blush.

I like everything about this blush. It comes in this nice and cute white jar packaging with cap matches the products inside. Did I mentioned already that I really like these two shades?

The shades I got here are in Rose and Melon. Here are the description of the ingredients and where it’s made, in case you’re curious to know.

With this blush it takes very little effort to blend. I’m really enjoying the performance of this formula. The formula is nicely pigmented and it blends out to a beautiful dewy finish. I adore this product!

Have you tried out any mousse blush products? Let me know what other brands you’ve tried that you’d recommend?

It’s a deep sheer coral that looks great for everyday wear and natural at the same time. It applies smoothly, but as for the moisturizing I honestly don’t know. It feels more like a lip stain than a lip balm.

Price wise – CAD$8 really is not that cheap for a tinted lip balm, consider their regular lipsticks are only $6. I wouldn’t have picked it up if it wasn’t on sale.

My only gripe is the sweet scented smell on this lip balm. It hangs around. I can’t figure out exactly what the scent is…artificial pomegranate or melon? Whatever the case maybe be … I’m not a huge fan of any strong scented products on my lips and for this reason alone I don’t see myself reaching for it. The smell just make my head spins.

Next up is their Eye Primer. I couldn’t find the shade off hand but I’ll put it in my next blog post if I find them.

So, here’s how the packaging looks like, a white cyclinder bottle with a doe foot applicator. Simple, clean and a perfect size for travelling. It contains a good amount of product in this bottle.

This is my first experience working with this product and I really like it. It looks like an Ivory shade to me when I did the color swatch. I like the easy to blend formula of this eye primer. CAD$6 price point is amazing!

I’ve been wearing this the moment I got it but I’m going to try again for this week before I write a full detail review. So, I hope you’d bear with me for a little longer.

Last but not least is their lipsticks. I’ve several of Joe Fresh’s matte lipsticks and love them including this Nude ones. I was on the hunt for a nude lipstick and picked this up when it was on sale. I was expecting it to be more of a soft brown or peachy tone but to me surprise, it looks incredibly opaque camel in color. I find this shade fits me alright given I’m light-medium toned person. If you’re deep tone then it may looked a little more washed out in my opinion.

The white and clear packaging is simple and sleek. I would say this is a better made plastic packaging. The packaging definitely feels so much solid and durable compared to than other drugstore brands.

On a short note, I do like this lipstick, it’s creamy, moisturizing and more! It doesn’t give a complete matte look that I was expecting but a nice demi-matte finish. I’ll continue to wear this for another week before I share my final thoughts and opinion.

That’s all for my haul. I’ve tried out most of them, some to my liking and some are not. 😦 I’ll make a review on these products, stay tuned! 🙂 Oh yes, let me know which product you like me review first. Don’t forget to leave your comment below.

So it’s the end of my post. If you’re looking for a good cruelty brand beauty products, Joe Fresh does not test their products on animals if you’re concerned. If you’re in Canada you can find them at Shoppers Drug Mart or Loblaws.

Have you tried any of these products before? What drugstore products are on your wishlist?

Thanks so much for stopping by the blog. I hope to see you all again on my next post. Stay tuned for more popped up makeup products which I’m so excited to show you guys. Bye!

Keep or Kick Hydra Lash Mascara By JOE Fresh

… a fresh new face in the cosmetic aisle

Joe Fresh has arrived at Shoppers Drug Mart or Pharmaprix stores, launching more than 150 new cosmetic products ranging from $8- $18. And subsequently roll out to other Loblaw Company Ltd. retail locations across Canada including Loblaws, Real Canadian Superstore and Provigo (Quebec)

I’m a longtime Joe Fresh fan, so I’m happy to see them branch out into beauty and keep everything super affordable!

I got the opportunity to try the new launched Hydra-lash Nourishing Mascara by Joe Fresh. This was given to me  by my good friend at Galerie Beaute, Pharmaprix for my consideration. The opinion here is solely my own through my experience after testing it out. You can be assured of my honest review. If you’re in the neighborhood, head over to the location and ask for Hydra Lash mascara.

Press Sample

Joe Fresh Hydra Lash Nourishing Mascara in Black, $12. Currently only available in black, but I have a feeling as the line expands they will possibly add more color selections. I’ll keep you updated for any new colors popping up.

If you love Black mascara and want to try a new drugstore mascara that works, I recommend you this one.

The formula is creamy thanks to a helping hand from Argan oil which keeps your lashes looking softer and a little shiny. It suppose to nourish your lashes too. This mascara packaging definitely has a luxury look. Not the usual plastic drugstore packaging we saw. I really love the simplicity of this packaging.

I was thrilled to be trying this argan oil nourishing mascara and here’s what I think from my experience.

The stubby bristles distribute product evenly to my lashes, and it’s skinny enough to use on my bottom lashes without creating a national disaster.

Second, it separates lashes beautifully and Clumps Free! I like that it dries up fast for second coat or third depending on how you want your lashes to look. I noticed it’s not flaky at all and no smudges.

Thirdly, it doesn’t pulled out lots of products on the wand applicator. I’m able to control the strokes better and can really go deeper to the root of my lashes.

What’s inside the box packaging. A well protected and securely packaged mascara. This could be another awesome gift idea for Valentine! Don’t you think!

Here are the ingredients in this formula. It says here on the box Paraben Free! Made in Italy.

I tested with one coat and then two coats with this mascara. I didn’t noticed any clump or mess. No doubt it doesn’t give me the curling lash effect but I’m quite impressed that it gives depth to my eyes. My eyes looks more awake and it’s doesn’t cause my eyes to feel irritated which is a good sign. This mascara is a keeper ❤

Overall, I’m quite impressed with this product from Joe Fresh. I would recommend you to try it. You don’t have take my word for it. Try it and you’d like it. It’s a good investment from money and quality point of view.  Available now at Shoppers Drug Mart and Pharmaprix stores. Don’t forget to load your Optimum Reward Point when you shopped.

Wednesday Epic Beauty Snag| JOE FRESH

Joe Fresh beauty

Every once in a while–though I’m hardly in need of more makeup!—I’ll pick up another little pot or two or a lot too many from Joe Fresh to add to my collection.

Yep, I buy this makeup all by myself, which is a big deal as a beauty blogger. I’m pretty sure many of you can relate on. Anyways, now I want to tell you about the latest great steal which I picked up for this week’s Beauty Madness Wednesday which I’ve change the topic to be “Wednesday Epic Beauty Snag” that is getting much love from me ❤

What you’re looking at are three Single Eyeshadows from clockwise is Pebble, Apricot and Charcoal. Each retailed for $4.00 but I got this on liquidation price for $1.94 (basically 50% off). So yay for that! This is Joe Fresh’s range of powder eyeshadow that works for any look.

charcoal eyeshadow

The texture is smooth and it blends nicely. Eeks, shimmer! But don’t worry. On the outer corner, it looks more like a flat colour, and goes on very pretty. If your skin is paler than mine, you’d obviously apply way less than I did above for the swatch, but for darker tones, it is buildable to more intensity. I’m showing only the Charcoal color swatch but I’ll be back to do all the color swatches in my next post when I do a full review.

Another eyeshadow pot I picked up is this Eyeshadow Quad in Limelight. Retailed for $10.00 and I paid $2.44 for this lovely palette. I love the lime green shadow and also the price is a super bargain. So, it’s a 75% discount for this eyeshadow. Yipee!

There are 4 pans in this gorgeous round hard compact packaging. There are two mattes and two shimmery finishing which I’m very excited to try them out for fall though. Lately, I seem to be gravitating to green, olive, dark brown and purple shades. Could it be because of the coming change of season! Oh well, there’s so many pretty colors out there to love, and Fall is best time to try out new shades and new makeup collections.

Lastly, I picked another Eyeshadow Duo in the shade Faded Violet and Iris. Remember I did a full review on it two weeks ago. I’ll put a link here if you like to hop over to read. I got to grab this one for obvious reason, I love the texture and the pigmentation and these purplish colors are perfect to create a smokey eyes look.

Secondly, it was only for $1.74 and I couldn’t pass on this deal. So yay for great deals! Hahaha! I love the great products and the great steal. Love it and last Wednesday, I got a coupon to spend $12.00 on makeup and get $3.00 off. How neat is that, right!

Anyways, that’s it for this week’s Wednesday Epic Beauty Snag. I hope you’ll find this post interesting and helpful. If you’re in Canada, don’t forget to check out Joe Fresh makeup aisle. My US friends, if you have friends visiting Canada, do ask them to grab a few things for you. The price is a real steal and the products are worth it.

Are you a fan of Joe Fresh? Have you tried any of the new shades? What’s your favourite single eyeshadow?

Thank you so much for taking the time to read. Until next week, stay beautiful!

Joe Fresh Lipstick Duo|Review

Awww Joe Fresh! I’ve blogged a few times about my love for this great Canadian brand and reason been because it’s becoming more accessible and we’re talking about great value at an affordable price point.

red color lip

As I’ve mentioned in my previous post that I’ll be doing the Canadian theme and today I’ll be doing just that. Here is another makeup product I picked up recently at Maxi (a subsidiary of Loblaws (Canadian Grocery Stores)) and it’s the Lipstick Duo by Joe Fresh.

If you have been reading my posts, you may know that I’m normally drawn to eye products but was completely smitten with the lip stuff this time. The shades of this lipstick duo are bright on one end and peachy nude on the other. How cool is that, right! Or eh?!

color swatch joe fresh

The lipstick shade I got is in Berry – the swatch on the my right and on the left Fig in a warm peachy nude color toned. Both shades are very pretty. I love the pigmentation and its creamy texture.

The packaging is sturdy and doesn’t look cheap like some other drugstore brands do. There’s quite a good amount of formula in the stick which is a bonus.

I’m totally rocking the bright Berry shade today for lip swatch and I’m really impressed with the formula and color payoff. It gives a smooth, creamy and satin finish.

Lastly, the price point for Joe Fresh’s lipsticks is only $6!  In today’s make-up world, $6 usually doesn’t go a long way, unless you’re buying items on sale.

I love, love this lipstick duo. You don’t take my word for it, you ought to just try it 🙂

Will you be wearing a it lip all Summer? Well, I know that I will 😀

Thank you so much for taking the time to read.

If you read my last week’s post, I did a Friday Makeup Haul with Joe Fresh products and click here to read my full review. Otherwise continue reading below …

Joe Fresh is a Canadian clothing brand exclusive to Loblaws (a retail grocery store in Canada) and they’ve make their mark in recent years and have been expanding from clothing to beauty. Sources says that Joe Fresh makeup brand will be hitting all drugstores in Canada by 2016 but as of now you can find their products at Loblaws and Maxi (subsidiary to Loblaws Ltd) under this flag name.

Anyways, let’s get the ball rolling for our weekly Drugstore Madness Wednesday. I was back for more of the Joe Fresh’s makeup products and lucky for me I saw a couple of products that were a great deal and here is what I want to share my review on. Today, I’ll be talking on just one item I picked up and the others will be posted in the coming weeks.

joe fresh trio shadows

So, here is Joe Fresh Eye Palette in Hypnoticeye regular price $12.00 and guess how much I paid for this one. $2.94! That’s an amazing steal! But on the other hand, I got to kick myself on the back since I paid a full price for the same palette earlier on. Oh well, sometimes you win and sometimes you lose, fact of life – what can I say! 😛

Inside this palette you got three beautiful eyeshadows, a mini eye pencil in Black and a brush applicator. There is a stripe of mirror in the cover and the packaging is very nice for a drugstore brand.

color swatch joe fresh

The shades in Hypnoticeye consists of Plum and Brown color toned which have matte finishing and the Champagne color is rich with glitters as a highlighter. The formula is impressively pigmented. It’s goes on smoothly and these shades are so pretty to work on. It blends very well and the color stay all day.

brush - liner

Next thing to talk is the eye pencil in this palette. It’s buttery smooth and it glides like butter. I really like the size of this pencil for it’s easier to control when it’s short. But that’s just me and you can find a standard eye pencil at any Joe Fresh counters.

I’m wearing the shades today. The Plum shadow I used on my lids and the Brown color for my crease and the Champagne for highlighter. Hope you guys like it 😀

The brush applicator is decent and does its job nicely. It’s almost the same size as the mini eye pencil.

*US readers can find Joe Fresh at six locations in New York; select Joe Fresh items are also available at more than 650 JC Penny stores

So there you have it, another week of the Drugstore Madness Wednesday great steal and until next week, stay beautiful for another great deal ❤

Have you heard of Joe Fresh makeup brand? What do you think of this eye palette? I love to hear your comments on the section below.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read.

Friday Makeup Haul

beauty haul joe fresh

Many of you may not know this brand, but Joe Fresh is a fashion brand and retail chain created for Canadian Food Distributor, Loblaws Ltd. Joe Fresh has also entered the American market with permanent and pop-up stores in New York City and region, with JC Penney store outlets throughout the United States.
I tagged along with my honey bear to do our weekly grocery shopping, and as I was browsing at the makeup section and doing some makeup swatches, yes that sounds crazy and no joke that’s the life of a makeup lover. Anyways, long story short, I heard many good things about Joe Fresh products and needless to say I walked away with several interesting beauty haul which I’m excited to share them in my post. So, let’s get rolling:-

First item I picked up is this Eye and Lip Palette by Joe Fresh because of its neutral earthy shadows topped with super cool packaging! I really like this simple but yet sturdy plastic packaging. The packaging doesn’t look cheap but rather expensive looking. The shade I got is in Bronze Age and the shadows are in Gold (shimmer),  Bronze (shimmer) and Dark Brown (matte) finish. It comes with a bright orangey lipstick and an eyeshadow brush. I’ll do a color swatch and review on my next post. This palette retails for $12.00

On a whim, I also pick up this Nail Polish in Maple. Net wt: 0.2 fl oz – for $1.94 and it was on special, so I justify myself to get it. The packaging is of cylindrical with a white plastic top. The lid is slightly larger than the bottle length. They are so amazing! Color goes on next to opaque. A full review coming up once I’ve tried it. I really really like this color. Oh, so pretty! It has a very nice selection of colors to choose.

I also got this 2 in 1 Concealer Cream Stick retails for $8.00 and I’m just curious to try this one out. I got mine in the shade Dark but it doesn’t look so dark from the stick. Anyways, I’m excited to try this out too. I’m going to open it right now :P. It comes in a twist stick pencil packaging and the texture is super amazing. It’s soft and it glide so well without having the feeling of it dragging whatsoever. Judging from the look of this concealer stick I personally think that it’s a little steep for a 0.07 fl oz net wt but I’ll report back the quality and performance once I’ve tried it if the value and quality are on par.

Next is this Eyeshadow Duo in Honeybell and Apricot. Again, I was blown away by the packaging. The packaging is made of clear plastic polycarbonate material which looks like a glass packaging. It doesn’t look like the drugstore plastic packaging we often see at the drugstores. Highly pigmented and it blends super amazingly. The texture is soft and smooth and no fallout. It has a soft dewy finish and these shades are very versatile.

I got this single Eyeshadow in Petrol – a blue spruce undertone with micro-glitters. Net wt: 0.08 fl oz for $5.00. It comes in a sturdy clear plastic packaging. I’ve been planning on doing a single eyeshadow makeup look and this shade will be perfect to make my brown eyes look more pop. Full eye makeup tutorial with review on my next post. Don’t forget to check back later 🙂

Many of you know that I don’t wear false lashes and well that’s about to change. Since I was at the Joe Fresh makeup section long enough, everything seems more appealing and I spotted this Lash Adhesive for $4.00 and told myself that now I don’t have any excuse not to. So, this is going to be my first time ever to try wearing a false eyelashes and I’m super nervous.

Lastly is a random product I saw in the liquidation box and it’s the L’oreal HiP (high intensity pigments) Bright Shadow Duo in Brazen. The color tone is of Dark Rose and Dark Brown and both shadows are matte finish. These shades look pretty to wear for evening wear. Comes in 5 high-flying combos. It’s ultra pigmented and the color intensity is amazing.

That’s it on my makeup haul for this month. So, I’ll say that these products are incredible for the price with good quality. For the price, the quality and the pigmentations, you can never go wrong. I’m so so glad to find these products by Joe Fresh. I’ll definitely be getting more of this brand to share in my next several posts. I must say that the price is affordable and the quality is impressively good.

I’m all about good deals when it comes to beauty on a budget and if you are in Canada go and check this brand out at the Superstores or if you have friends living in Canada, ask them to get it for you or order online.

Have you tried these lovely products? Let me know what you thought on the comment section below!

Thank you for taking the time to read.
