August Beauty Favorites!

Hey everybody! I’m back with an August Favorite.

I’m going to start with foundation this time around. I’m in love with this foundation even though it’s not my perfect color match which I’m going to explain and show you down below. But this Burberry Velvet Fluid Foundation is amazing. It’s so lightweight as if you’re not wearing anything at all. As many of you might have already know me, I’m a BB cream type of girl and this foundation has to be my favorite after Make Up Forever Water Blend Foundation.

Love the luxe packaging. It comes in a glass bottle with a pump that twist to lock. This is targeted for combination and oily skin type person. It suppose to last for 12-14 hours wear.

I decided to start with one pump and with a damp beauty blender because that’s usually my favorite way to apply foundation or bb cream. Since I’ve combination skin, I like to wear it with a primer and moisturizer underneath the foundation for best result. The consistency is really light, liquidy and it smells really good. And right as I apply it I can see it cancelled out my redness really well. I used a total of 2 pumps on my whole face to get the coverage that I wanted. So far I was very pleased with the way it looks. After wearing it all day long I was pretty impressed by how it holds on to my skin without the need to touch up.

I think this is a wonderful foundation. It does dry quickly, but I use it with a damp beauty blender and it blends out amazingly. The formula allows you to layer up to full coverage without looking cakey or streaking.

The coverage is amazing, it’s so lightweight, and is perfect for my combination skin. It dries to a velvety matte finish that looks airbrushed. The finish is just so beautiful. I really really like it apart from the wrong shade!

Everything would be fine, if not for the color I  picked. The shade in Trench #202 has a pink undertone and too light for my NC25 skin tone. I believe it’s the 2nd lightest from their color range. I kick myself on the back when I realized my mistake. I should have gotten a #203 instead. You see I was overly excited when I saw this gem at Winners and everything just went blank after. Has this ever happened to anyone or is it just me?

Yes, it’s pricey and since the damage has been done, I found a way to fix my problem. I just mix it with darker foundation to get the right color match for my skin tone and I’m happy.

Overall, I do recommend it if you’ve very oily skin you’re going to love this but if you’re vice versa then this foundation is not for you. Don’t waste your money, there are other high end brands that perform just as awesome.

Next is the NARS Duo Eyeshadow in Jolie Poupee. This is a nice color purple combo duo by Nars. My first ever Nars eyeshadow and here’s my story.

I’ve been lusting for Nars products ever since I first saw Michelle Phan’s earliest YouTube videos where she used this brand. Yes it’s that long ago and I’m happy that it finally landed in this post.

Nars Jolie Poupee

The left is a matte lavender and on the right is a bright purple shimmer. Both of them works really well and look beautiful. It has a nice pigmentation and it blends really well.

The color in the pan is gorgeous and would be perfect for fall smokey purple looks. This is a beautiful color purple if you’re into this shade. A lovely color that screams fall or if you aren’t afraid of trying a bit of color out of your comfort zone then you’ll love this duo. You should definitely get this one.

Last but not least I got another eyeshadow that I’ve been loving this month and it’s the TIGI Cosmetics High Density Eyeshadow Singles in Chocolate. There’s only eight shades shadow available in this collection.

This is another amazing eyeshadow that’s true to its color with remarkable color payoff. A mineral based powder shadow that’s goes on smooth and highly pigmented.

TIGI Single Eyeshadow
Swatch on bare hand. NO primer

A matte shadow that keeps me reaching out every time I feel like wearing one shadow by it own. You can basically wear it wet or dry but I’m a creature of habit so I’ll go with dry application for that’s how I usually rolls.

My verdict – I wish they’ve more color options and easy to get my hands on. Otherwise, this is a great brand that’s gives you the most bang for your money.

NARS Smokey Purple Eyes combined with Chocolate by TIGI

I’m wearing the Lavender on my lids and the Purple for the crease. I then use the Chocolate shadow by TIGI for the outer corner of my eyes and on the bottom lid. Next, I apply flexitarian by Colourpop on my brow bone and the inner corner of my eyes. Complete it with Dolly Wink liquid eyeliner and Clinique Chubby Lash mascara. Makes brown eyes really pop. I always gets compliment on my eyes every time I wear this.

Have you tried any of these brand mentioned before? I’d love to hear what you think in the comment down below.

Do You Need It? Essence Makeup Bronzing & Highlighting Palette

Hi guys! Today’s I’ll be talking about this new palette by Essence Makeup well maybe not new new but it’s definitely new to me. It’s the Glow Must Go On bronzing and highlighting palette and I picked up mine at my local drugstore but it’s also available at Essence’s website if you want to check it out.

essence glow and go

This palette is a collaboration with beauty youtuber and this one bronzing & highlighting palette is with Serena from Beautylab. I like supporting beauty youtuber who works hard and get their name out.

There are four available and the one that drawn me the most is called The Glow Must Go On, a bronzing and highlighting palette!

Really like the outside packaging and design of this palette. It’s made of cardboard material but very sturdy. It’s a nice size for travelling and small enough to fit into any makeup bag.

In this palette, you get a highlighter, two eyeshadows and three beautiful shimmery bronzers. There’s a small brush to help you apply the products but I prefer to use it for touch ups only. To me it seems like a perfect “getaway” palette for holidays. You can also use the glowing highlighter or bronzers on your eyes, to add them some more shine.

This palette is amazing. I was blown away when I swatched these. They feel so creamy and pigmented.  “the glow must go on” palette has three different bronzers in warm.

If you want to know if it impressed me or not, read on!

L-R: Honey Glow Highlighter, Cinnamon and Sandalwood Eyeshadows

The Cinnamon eyeshadow is described as brick orange while Sandalwood is more like medium dark brown shadow. I was drawn to the Sandalwood shade as it’s chocolaty and looks like a rich color.  As for the Cinnamon, it’s more dusty than the darker brown and the pigmentation isn’t the best but can be built up a bit. These two eyeshadows are matte and can be used as bronzer if you like to mix things up a bit. I used the Cinnamon shade as transition color or on the crease and the Sandalwood on the outer corner.

Next is the Honey Glow highlighter which gives a frosty finish that I really like. It’s pigmented so you don’t need loads to achieve the desired look.

Next are the swatches of the trio power Glowing Bronzer. The bronzers are in copper,  bronze and pink shade. The finish of the bronzer is super metallic and looks very well on warmer skin tones. Brunettes with yellow undertone will love this!

The texture is very soft. It’s buildable as well as blendable. The shades are beautiful but the drawback for me is the shimmery formula.

This small brush applicator is useful to apply highlighter or touch ups. I find it’s too big and flat for your eyes and too small to use for your face.

Oh boy, am I glowing!!! The highlighter is my only favorite from the palette.

Overall, I think this is a nice palette if you’re looking for minimum color palette which is easy to work. It’s not a terrible palette if you like glowy bronzers which I’m not really a fan of. The design got my attention and the fact that I’m supporting a youtuber in her collab with Essence. Sadly,  as much as I want to like all of them, it’s a miss for me. I would say don’t waste your money, there are other drugstore palettes out there that offers more for your buck.

Hope this review was helpful to you! If you do decide to try these palettes, let me know how they fared with you!

A Pop Lipstick We’re Obsessed With: Gerard Cosmetics

Hey guys! Welcome to my blog. This is going to be a casual post which is also my first post of the Gerard Cosmetic Lip products I got them through online order.

I’ve always wanted to try these lipsticks after hearing so many youtubers raved about them and also saw them on instagram.

Anyways, I apologized for posting this review a little late. Don’t get me wrong, I love them but it’s just that I wanted to try each shade before giving my final thoughts and opinion. Off the bet, I could clearly narrow a few that could be ranked as my stand out lip products so far if you continue reading …

So, I got a few lipsticks and lip glosses to show you guys in this post. When I tried them on my lips, I was completely sold. I was like – that’s what I’ve been missing all this time. I’m obsessed with them now.

To be honest, I really like the packaging of both the lipsticks and lip glosses. They look quite luxe and I’m loving it.

First of is the lip glosses I got in the shades Nude and Pouty Princess.

They are just ridiculously pigmented and resemble lipsticks more than anything. Incredibly buttery and creamy (as the names suggest!) they leave my lips feeling hydrated and smooth while the color lasts for hours. I’m quite impressed with these!

Each lip gloss clicks to lock when fully closed. This creates a seal to keep the lip gloss fresh. To talk more about the packaging, it gets better than the gold prettiness. There is also a mirror on the tube! eeee! Yes, a mirror. Oh and did I mention the light? This is a genius idea, they made this lip gloss all-in-one. How cool is that, right!

The light! It’s on the bottom of the cap, so when you point it towards your lips, it lights them up so you can see when you are applying the lip gloss. And,finally it comes with the standard doe foot applicator which makes gliding a breeze.

Here are the color swatches up closed.

About the gloss in general, the formula is a little hard to apply evenly but once done, bam, beauty except a little too sticky in my opinion. I find the texture to be thicker than other lip glosses I tried by far, which makes my lips feel sticky and heavy. Let me put it this way, this formula would definitely reminds you that you had a lip gloss on. If that make sense!

They didn’t have a strong smell except the shade in Pouty Princess which I find it to smell a little plastic-y, and the Nude smell like caramel. The scents didn’t bother me that much, it’s just scented enough to be pleasant without being overpowering.

Honestly, I’m sad to say that being not a huge fan of sticky lip gloss costs me a toll. I love the packaging and colors but the texture/ formula does bother me – so it’s a miss for me. I’ll probably pass it over to my daughter to try.

I decided to purchase the Hydra – Mattes because the curiosity was killing me, I mean the colors are gorgeous as is the packaging so I just HAD TO HAVE IT. Also I just really wanted to be the person that gives the best and the most honest review ever.

A blood red that will pull them in and take hold. Perfect for an evening wear for your truly striking makeup look.

These take between 2-5 minutes to fully dry on me. And they’re extremely comfortable to wear. I had absolutely no cracking, crumbling or flaking. These dried completely matte yet felt so so soft on the lips. I love love this!

The packaging is so pretty I really love it. Its got a frosted plastic bottle and a gold lid.

I find that with one swipe you can completely coat your entire lips, but I like to get more product to make sure that they’re fully covered or it can dry a little thin.

Just look at how pigmented this formula is! Intense red that’s so dramatic and classic. I mean LOOK HOW BEAUTIFUL THIS IS!

Verdict on this product : I would BUY THESE – I’m so happy I did. The formula is great.

And now to the lipsticks!

Yes, a gold bullet. I really like it, very luxurious:) The bullets look like the MAC ones except they are not as high quality. Cute packaging nevertheless!

These offer nice pigment, they last decently long and they go on like a dream.

Throwing shade is about to have a whole new meaning especially when you have Fire Engine, 1995, Berry Smoothie and Vintage Rose to be added to your vanity.

They don’t tug at my lips and it makes them feel great the entire time the lipstick is on. Love love the high pigmentation of this product.

I have one of the pink shades and one of the coral shades but there are 19 in total, encompassing beiges, corals, reds, pinks and purples. Go to their website to find out more.

Swatches from left to right is Vintage Rose, 1995 (total perfect nude), Fire Engine and Berry Smoothie. I find they wear for a solid 3 to 4 hours, even after a few cups of coffee, and fade evenly.

And I would say that overall, I like these and recommend the lipstick and liquid lipstick. I also really really like the packaging. These are amazingly pretty, I think I’d live in it! hahaha!

Lastly, it’s worth mentioning the beauty with Gerard Cosmetics, is they DO ship to Canada (yay!) and often have sales/codes/offers for free shipping. Yes. Free shipping. To Canada. Yes!

Got any question about them, let me know in the comment below.

So, that’s it for today my friends! I hope to see you again on the next one:). Bye for now!

Love you guys!

The formula is good, I found it to be a bit sheer and though it did build – it took 2 coats for full opacity. I love how easy it was to apply and it dries up quick.

Overall I’m satisfied, I don’t know if it might wear better for other people but for me I really like it.

I’m excited to try out more colors of the JulieG Core Collection nail polish! If you guys have any recommendations for great nail polish, please let me know in the comments below!
