Hey gorgeous! Today, I wanted to share with you my thoughts and opinion on this eyeshadow palette by Hard Candy in Sassy. Hard Candy had recently released their Spring Collection 2015 and this palette is their permanent products which received many buzz and raves from beauty bloggers and youtubers. There are some mixed reviews on this palette and I’m just curious to try it out myself. As many of you many know, I’m obsessed with eyeshadow palettes and I wanted to try new things all the time especially this new Eyes collection by Hard Candy.
So, last weekend while I was at Walmart I spotted this Hard Candy eyeshadow palettes. I saw the Smokey Eyes and Sassy Eyes palettes while the Natural Eyes palette was nowhere to be seen 😦 Without hesitation, I dived in with no moment to lose and pick up this Sassy Eyes eyeshadow palette. Yah!!!
I really like this adorable embossed metal casing packaging and wanted it badly to have this in my Spring makeup stash. I’m a sucker for pretty packaging and this palette is so cute. So, I rushed home and did a color swatch.
This palette is divided into 3 rows similar to the Natural Eyes eyeshadow palette by Too Faced. Could this be the dupes for Too Faced Eyes eyeshadow palette? Let’s find out.
Day: Innocence, Demure, Banter
Drama: Sweetheart, Witty, Smarty Pants
Evening: Social Butterfly, Angel, Ms. Attitude
This palette is selling for $7.98 at Walmart with net wt. of 0.39 oz and it comes with an eyeshadow primer (net wt: 0.17 oz) and an eyeliner pencil in soy (net wt: 0.01oz). Inside the packaging is a booklet and a decent sized mirror with an dual ended eyeshadow sponge applicator. Very similar to the Natural Eyes Too Faced palette.
Hard Candy is exclusive only to Walmart so it’s sort of narrow up your finds if you are looking for a Hard Candy makeup brand.
There are nine shades in this palette with I think four matte and the remainders are in metallic shimmer. I notice that the shades are leaning more to cool-toned.
Okay, first and foremost, I couldn’t get the shadows to swatch on my arm and there were fallout. I didn’t use a primer when I did swatches since I never do. On swatches, I notice that the texture in this palette is not very smooth and it is flakey. I need to apply a few times to get the colors on my arm and it was tad chalky actually especially on the glitter shadows. While the mattes seems quite impressive.
Secondly, the color on Sassy is much lighter and therefore the colors doesn’t show up much on swatch. I’m quite disappointed with this palette. I was hoping that I can save a few bucks down the road but instead I’ll have to get the Natural Eyes palette by Too Faced.
I’m sure it might have worked for some but it was definitely a miss for me. I’ve tried it and am not satisfied both with the texture (fallout) and the shades (too light) . It’s just to tricky to work with this palette 😦 Again, I love the metal packaging but it’s really no point for me to reach on a product that I cannot use.
I haven’t tried the eye primer but I think it is nice to have it included in this palette. It has a nice pigmented black eyeliner pencil but when I try it on my hand it does not set. Anyways, as far as my first impression on this eyeshadow palette is concerned, I would not repurchase it again. In fact, I’m thinking of returning it for this is definitely a miss for me. On a positive note this eyeshadow palette is cruelty free (no animal testing).
There are many who might love and really like this palette but this isn’t really my cup of tea to go with a cookie 😦 I love the price because it’s so affordable for a drugstore brand but the quality is so-so.
Have you seen these at your local Walmart yet? Will you be picking up one or (‘all)? I love to hear your comments below.
Thanks so much for reading!!

I am sorry to hear that the Sassy Eyes palette didn’t work out. That is such a bummer! I’ve thought about picking that one up too but maybe I will skip it then. Thanks for your honest review! 🙂 xo

Aww thank you Katie for your comment. Yup, skip this one if you already have the Natural Eyes. Wet n Wild Comfort zone is a much better palette in terms of texture and quality, my opinion 😀 xo

I’m glad you were honest with this review, the packaging is beautiful, and the colours do look gorgeous! I’m sorry it didn’t work out for you😓 An eye primer is definitely worth it, trust me! It keeps your eyeshadow in place ALL DAY. You don’t even need to get an extensive one like the primer potion. I have soap and glory’s ‘it’s about prime’ and it works so well!!😃 My eyeshadow doesn’t budge! I think it was around £8 just😊 Anyway I love your blog and I look forward to seeing more of your posts!💗
