For those of you who aren’t subscribed to my blog yet I posted a post review previously of the Maybelline The Blushed Nudes palette. That particular palette is available in all drugstore stores. The original Nudes palette from Maybelline got very mixed reviews on YouTube, some people loved it, some people hated it. I personally thought it was fine, quite amazing frankly for been the first drugstore coming out with a palette format eyeshadow.
I also own the Brights palette which I’m going to talk about with you today. I’ve been lusting after the Brights since I saw it a long while ago. But instead, I grabbed the Blushed Nudes the second I saw it was available at the drugstore. Anyways, it’s better late than never right!
Adrenaline is running high and I’m so thrilled to share with you guys,
But in this post, we’re going to dig deeper into Maybelline Brights Eyeshadow Palette. The regular price is around $12.00 -15.00 and I got mine for about half the price. Yup, $7.99 from the original price tag of $15.00 at Winners. Incredible price don’t you think? I don’t have to hesitate with this purchase. The colors really appeal to me that make me bought it in a heartbeat.
Top row from Left to Right: Shade 1 is a shimmery white. Shade 2 is a shimmery light pink, Shade 3 is shimmery taupe. Shade 4 is a shimmery lime green. Shade 5 is a shimmery gold and Shade 6 is a satin dark pink.
Bottom row from Left to Right: Shade 7 is a matte deep purple. Shade 8 is a matte black. Shade 9 is a satin medium cobalt blue. Shade 10 is a shimmery peach. Shade 11 a satin finish dark brown and lastly Shade 12 is a shimmery light blue. This is my most favorite quad 5, 6, 11 and 12!
The packaging is a beautiful black plastic casing with a clear window on the top that lets you see the shades inside. Exactly the same layout and design as the other palettes in Maybelline’s range.
Inside are 12 stunning shades that are overall more pigmented and blendable than the ones in the original palette. The plastic packaging is a bit flimsy and looks somewhat cheap but this is a drugstore palette and we’re not paying for packaging. We’re paying for pretty eyeshadows. But having said that, it’s a travel-friendly palette.
The instructions on the back of the palette give some guidance on how to make the most of the palette, which is really useful for eye makeup beginners. There are quads, trios and duos eye makeup guide that I find them fascinating but I find that the original Nudes has better color combination.
Though this palette is called “The Brights” the shades are actually quite muted. This is a very good option for people who would like to incorporate colors in their eye makeup, but do not want to go too bright. The finish varies across the colors. It’s a mix of matte, satin and shimmer finishes.
I’m showing you that with one swatch from the pan, you can see the lack of pigmentations immediately on my fingers. Bear in mind that I do not use primer or eye base when doing color swatches. Basically what you see is what you get.
Most of the shades are soft and have a creamy feel to them. But the two matte shades – Purple and Black (shades 7 and 8) are very dry and chalky. I feel that they’re very patchy and difficult to work with.
Overall, I noticed that a few of the shades are less pigmented and the Purple and Black for been dry and patchy. There are a few misses but overall it’s a decent palette and I like it more than I thought I would. It has some pretty muted shades that you can wear for everyday use. I still think it’s worth a try.
Don’t forget to tune in, on my next post where I’ll share several different color eye makeup looks with this “The Bright” Eyeshadow Palette.
If you have this palette, or want to buy it, let me know your thoughts! Also, I’d love to hear what you think of Maybelline‘s palettes in general in the comment section.
Thanks so much for reading.

I am not a fan of the Maybelline brand, but those colors look nice. I wish I’d read your post before I ordered the Too Faced Pop Sugar Palette, Because this palette would have saved me some money. I may still pick this palette up because it offers some different color options from the Pop Sugar palette.

Yes, I really like the shades. It looks bright but agree that if mixed with other brown or taupe shades, it would fit just anyone. Thanks for commenting. xo

I was so drawn to Maybelline eyeshadow palettes before I heard mixed reviews. Even though I am not a pro when it comes to eyeshadow I still think that it’s easier to work with more pigmented shadows so that is a huge draw back to me
