7 Essential Makeup Products For This Summer

Hey girlfriends!

Set of colored cosmetics icons in flat style.

As we are gearing up from Spring mode to Summer beach or backyard BBQ party. This could also mean one thing. The temperature rises and the last thing we want is a melt off makeup, right! I gathered a few makeup essentials from high end and drugstore brands to share with you. I talked about SPF, SPF in my previous post and finally summer is almost here. So, don’t forget to bring your sun-tan lotion with SPF for we are going for a ride to see the 7 essential makeup products to have this summer!

Are you ready? Then hop in and we’re good to go! First stop is the …

 1. Primer

We all know know that a good primer is important to prep our skin in order to help makeup stay all day long. Therefore, it’s crucial to have a primer handy especially during the hot summer. It’s one of the best summer makeup tips for the pros and beginners alike.

Drugstore:ELF Mineral Face Primer

High-end: Laura Mercier Foundation Primer with SPF 30

2. Tinted Moisturizer

As the weather is getting warmer, we might consider swapping out our long time bff heavy foundation with the BB cream and tinted moisturizer for hotter days. And let’s not forget the SPFs! Be it BB cream  or tinted moisturizer, both serve to make your skin look flawless with added bonus of protecting your skin from the uv light at the same time.  These two lightweight options have an SPF built on them.

Drugstore: Olay Fresh Effect BB Cream with SPF 15

High-end: SKIN79 Super BB cream with SPF 25

3. Waterproof Concealer

Okay, for those of you who doesn’t have dark circles under your eyes, you may skip this but I need to read this since I have dark circles under my eyes either due to lack of sleep, pigmentation irregularities or the old fashion genetic (thanks, Mom!). Using a waterproof concealer during the summer months will keep problem areas at bay throughout the day 🙂

Drugstore: Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer

High-end: Lancome Effacernes Water Protective Undereye Concealer

4. Cheek Stain

When it’s 90 degrees outside, powder blush might cause to separate and turn out to look cakey after a while. Another good alternative is to get cream blush or cheek stain which will last longer and when applied on your cheeks, it will look like it’s glowing from within.

Drugstore: Sonia Kashuk cream, blush (I did a review recently) or Maybelline Dream Bouncy

High-end: Tarte Airblush Maracuja Blush

5. Cream Eyeshadow

Similar concept as the blush, cream eyeshadow last longer than powder eyeshadow when you’re out on the hot scorching sun. The eyeshadow cream consistency helps the product absorb better into the skin as opposed to sitting on top of it. A brilliant idea o making it a beauty essential for summertime.

Drugstore: Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo 24hr Cream Gel Shadow or Milani Bella Eyes Gel Powder Eyeshadow

High-end: Givenchy Ombre Couture Cream Eyeshadow – waterproof color long lasting up to 16 hrs

6. Bronzer

Bronzer is the most popular makeup product for summer. In my opinion, one must not leave home without applying bronzer in the summer. Bronzer gives dimension and color on the high point of your face, making it look like a sun-kissed glow on the forehead, cheekbones, chin and nose.

Drugstore: Milani Bronzer XL All Over Glow

High-end: Hourglass Ambient Bronzer

7. Tinted Lip Balm

Heavy lipstick in the summer? No way. I would prefer to go with buttery lipstick that’s no too heavy but still gives a decent color stain on lips. On top of that a lip gloss with SPF will be great!

Drugstore: NYX Butter Lipstick

High-end: Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment with SPF 15

NAKED 2 Palette by URBAN DECAY|Swatches

Hey gorgeous!

I’m here to talk about another of my favorite palette from Urban Decay. This time round is the Naked 2 Eyeshadow Palette. Many of you know that I’m a huge fan of Urban Decay eyeshadow palettes and for those who don’t, I guess after reading this post you will get to know and understand why I love Urban Decay’s eyeshadow palettes.

DSC06316

On my several posts back, I did reviews on Naked 3 and Naked palette but today I’m super duper excited to be doing color swatches out of this Naked 2 palette that I just acquired recently. So, now I’m officially a proud owner of three Urban Decay Naked Palettes… whoa…ha!ha!

DSC06300 DSC06302

The packaging for NAKED 2 is quite similar to Naked 3 which is of metal tin packaging. It consists of twelve beautiful color shades for natural everyday wear and evening smoky eyes look.

Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette ($54.00 for 0.71 oz.) contains twelve eyeshadows:

So many times, I’ll come across a neutral matte eyeshadow and first I’m like “yay” and then when I noticed the shades are all so shimmery that my next reaction goes “boo” 😛

I didn’t mean it in a wrong way. I mean, I love sparkle and shine but sometimes it’s just nice to have one or two shades of matte in the palette. I’m always happy with Urban decay’s eyeshadow palettes since it seems to keep things interesting.

naked 1,2,3

So, this is another reason I’m crushing on this Naked 2 palette. It has twelve gorgeous neutral shades in shimmery or frosted finish are the Half Baked (Copper Brown), Booty Call (White Beige), Chopper (Orange Red), Snake Bite (Dark Bronze), Suspect (Champagne Bronze), Pistol (Grey Brown), Verve (Beige Grey), YDK (Coppery Red) and Busted (Burgundy) and yay!!! – three matte shades of Foxy (Yellow Beige), Tease (Mauve Brown) and Blackout (Dark Black).

It comes with a dual-ended brush – the Good Karma Shadow/Crease Brush. I love the fact that this Naked 2 is also of warmer-toned shades as Naked 1 even though there are many similar shades to merit both. But I’m all about neutral warm shade, babe! (giggling!!!)

Behold as I guide you inside Naked 2 eyeshadow palette. Be marvelled by the beauty of this yet another incredible Naked palette by Urban Decay.

nk2 palete

Out of the twelve shades only five are NEW. They are Foxy, Chopper, Tease and Pistol. My favorite shades are Half-Baked, Chopper, Snake Bite and Pistol. I’m planning to do a FOTD makeup tutorial in my next post using these favorite color shades I mentioned with a review up next.

The quality, overall in my opinion is good. I love how pigmented each formula is but I don’t think it’s as good across the board as the first palette, but for $54 and twelve full-sized eyeshadows it’s certainly worth taking a look at.

I just think that if you have Naked 1 already then Naked 2 isn’t much of a leap. I believe that Naked 2 is born out of demand for its warm-toned neutral shades from its predecessor while promoting a few new shades for us to play with.

It’s available at Sephora, Amazon, ebay and online.

Which Naked Palette will you pick?

Thank you for taking the time to read.

PIXI Fairy Dust Review

Hey Gorgeous,

Has any of you remember Tinkerbell from”Peter Pan”? This Pixi Fairy Dust always reminds me of this pixie dust that the fairies have to collect the dust in the movie “The Lost Treasure”. Ooops! I just got carried away by all these soft shimmery fairy dust.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I got mine in Brightening Bare in taupe shade from the ipsy bag sample. It has pretty color and I love it. It’s not overly shimmery and it has beautiful pigments. The finishing touch is amazing. Available in 6 fairy pixi shades. Net wt: 0.02 oz. You can get this from Target for $10.00 or Pixi online store by using code: PIXIDUST for a 20% off on any purchase.

It comes in a wand applicator and the fairy dust in the pot.

Beautiful color swatch. It looks wet-tish but it’s not but more because of the creamy pigmentation. Simply lovely and dewy.

On the right image: Since it’s a Christmas day, I decided to dolled up a little by wearing this fairy dust as a highlighter on my brow bone and cheek bones. Perfect to take family photos and the wear lasted a long while.

So, the next time you need some pixie dust, hop over to your nearest Target for this nice soft shimmery finish look.

What do you think of this fairy dust? I hope you find this review helpful and interesting.

See you again next time.

Thank you for reading.

Maybelline Dream Bouncy blush is also one of my favorite blush of all time. I had this for a while already and finally I got the chance to show case it as my Top 5. Yes it has those bouncy effect which I find it quite cool. This is a cream blusher that is so lightweight to powder form. It has a beautiful colour payoff and so a little goes a long way.

This little gem – Essence Kalinka blush. Believe it or not I got this for only $2.00 on liquidation sale. I simply love the cute and adorable Russian doll theme packaging that drew me to grab it. But I did find it quite pigmented and soft. It blends in quite well and it has a matte finish. Not too bad for a $2 bucks blusher.

Revlon Blush in 010 Classy Coral is a rich, quite pigmented and so wonderful soft when applying. The texture is soft and it blends pretty nicely. One thing to note is that the color of this Classy Coral which I picked has a very soft and light tone to it. So, lots of blending required for a fresh looking cheek. Good news is that the color is buildable so it works for me. There are 9 color shades available!

NYX blush is one of my everyday blusher after I started using it. It’s very pigmented, creamy texture feel eventhough it is a powder blush. Has a shimmery effect too.  It creates a really natural glow when I applied it on my apple cheek.  It glides so smoothly and I absolutely love this blusher. By the way, I got mine in copper for an autumn look. Available in 24 gorgeous and radiant colors!

Last but not least is my E.L.F. blusher. It has a silky finish which blends pretty well on my skin. The formula is silky to touch. It has a tiny, subtle amount of shimmer to it which gives off a natural looking glow. Average pigments and good value for money. I got mine at Target.

What is your favorite blusher from the drugstore?

Thanks for reading guys!
